Had an infection with TotalSecurity last night. Was able to eventually get an install of MBAM to a none default location and rename mbam.exe to go.exe and run a scan. At this point scans always just return 1 bad registry entry, disablenotify for windows update. I still cannot install Malwarebytes Antimalware to the default location, and if I enable windows updates it will remain enabled for about 2 minutes then gets shut off. If I change the registry entry it also gets changed back when Windows update gets shut off.
I can't find anything I recognize as malicious in Process Explorer. I've also run rootrepeal based on one of the links for being unable to identify any suspicious .sys files. Log also attached.

kelaworu.dll and some randomly named .exes keep showing up and getting caught by AVG, and MBAM scans. However I still cannot identify and remove the underlying infection. Help would be appreciated.

Ive manually detected and found several of these but I can't seem to find them all. Completely at a loss.
bihomimo.dll seems to be the recurring theme but I'm not sure that this isn't part of windows.

dir /AS finds hidden files. this makes it much easier to locate them.

I was finally able to locate all the infected files using
c:\windows\system32> dir /AS
I wrote down the full results as in the above post.
Then I booted using my XP install disk and entered Recovery mode. In recovery mode I deleted all all the files noted with the DEL command. When I rebooted I ran Malware Bytes which removed the 1 registry entry it continued to find the whole time. Then I used regedit and removed all entries relating to the .dlls I had found.
I can now keep windows updates turned on, and I can install Malware Bytes to the default location and run it without playing any tricks.
Thanks to Dave42 or whoever it was that replied. His responses seem to have been removed but his advice did help me resolve the issue.
