So i recently suffered a major virus on my computer, with plenty of attempts to edit registry values, pop-ups etc. Yesterday was the worst , when upon boot, i noticed a new 'anti-spyware program' on the desktop which i had no idea where it came from (so i left it well alone). I did notice a message from an icon in the taskbar that said something of attempted data transfer by a key logger program. So i removed the internet connection and finnally installed malwarebytes properly. For the previous few days i had been unable because it could not find "mbam.exe". However after trying a 3rd time, and with the internet connection gone, it worked fine. So i ran it, it did look legit, and allowed it to its thing with removal and reboot. And now the plot thickens:

Upon reboot, Windows holds me up at the Windows login screen, with only an "Owner" account available for login. But of course, its password protected and I don't know it. I never use a password since it is a home computer. Might anyone have an idea whatI can do to get around this? I am not worried about transferred data or compromised passwords because i had not checked anything on that computer in terms of bank sites etc. I have had success with this program before at removing everything, So i am hoping to work through this instead of reformatting, if only to save myself any itunes trouble.

And i just read through the other posts and found that i too have the security tool virus. So if that helps anyone...

It does not change my login problem, but i am glad to see that it was bogus viral warnings etc.

Scan and post logs - read note at bottom in green
If you're having Malware related issues with your computer that you're unable to resolve.
  • Please do not post any logs in the General forum. We do not work on any logs posted in the General forum.
  • Please do not install any software or use any removal/scanning tool except for those you're requested to run by the Helper that will assist you.
  • Using these other tools often makes the cleanup task more difficult and time consuming.
  • If you have already submitted for assistance at one of the other support sites on the Internet then you should not post a new log here, you should stay working with the Helper from that site until the issue is resolved.
  • Do not assume you're clean because you don't see something in the logs. Please wait until the person assisting you provides feedback.
  • There are often many others that require asistance as well, so please be patient. If no one has responded within 48 hours then please go ahead and post a request for review
  • NOTE: If for some reason you're unable to run some or any of the tools in the first link, then skip that step and move on to the next one. If you can't even run HijackThis, then just proceed and post a NEW topic as shown in the second link describing your issues and someone will assist you as soon as they can.
