liporeye.dll

Seems like a new threat that just popped up and when I've googled it, this appears to be the only helpful response out of the 5 that appear for "liporeye"

http://www.prevx.com/filenames/14030827704...POREYE.DLL.html

Malwarebytes doesn't recognize it as an issue, nor does SAS or McAfee.
It does show up on HiJackThis though in like three places. It errors out for whatever reason when I select to 'fix' the errors.

Please let me know if I should post any other information.

thanks in advance

Hi phreakv and welcome to the MBAM forums :)

Do you have the file archived ?

If so please can you zip it up and attach to your next post.

Thanks in advance :)

thanks for the welcome.

as to archiving the file, I'm at work atm so I'm not near a PC with Malwarebytes on it... is this a specialized process? I'm relatively tech saavy and do wonders at clicking buttons but can't say I remember seeing the option to archive files, etc... I just want to make sure I know what I'm doing so I'm not in the way of you helping me. any instructions on this?

much appreciated

Hi,

Archiving just geek spiel for having *saved* the file.

If its still active on the PC you should be able to locate it and select copy and then paste the file into a new holding location. From there just zip the copied file(right click send to zip) to compress the file and then our forum software will allow you to attach/upload that file so i can get my hands on it :)

I cannot seem to find a copy of the file on my system. it placed a seemingly empty directory in c:\ProgramData and another in c:\Users\All Users...

I looked through Windows Explorer (Vista 32-bit) and could see the directories as hidden and then I could see them through the command prompt as well. both said the directories were empty (including no hidden files)...

here is the HiJackThis log:

You could try searching for the file with Agent Ransack which is a free search utility.

Try a search for liporeye.dll and if the suss file is shown then you could right click from within Agent Ransack's gui and zip it to desktop then attach it to your post or upload to a share file site.

Grabbed it thanks phreakv. :)

Come to think of it maybe just zipping the whole folder would have achieved getting the sample over here?
