Hi Everyone,

Can anyone tell me how to get rid of the 4 .exe files that LimeWire has left on my system?

unpack200.exe
limewire.exe
execnowindow.exe
uninstall.exe

I can see those files when I do a search in RegEdit, but they will not let me delete them.
I have folder view set to view hidden files and folders, yet when I do a search on my
computer, none of those 4 files are found.

Please give me the patience to not string up my 22 yro college brat that put this horrible software on my new computer... *sigh* :D

Any help on this matter would be truly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Angi

Hi Angie,

We would need to see some logs to see those files. If they're not allowing you to remove them then something could still be calling them. Since this is not Malware related go ahead and run this can and we'll see what we can do to help you remove it. If it does turn out to be Malware though we'll move to the other forum as before.

[indent]Download DDS and save it to your desktop
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/dds.scr

Disable any script blocker if your Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware has it.
Once downloaded you can disconnect from the Internet and disable your Ant-Virus temporarily if needed.
Then double click dds.scr to run the tool.
When done, the DDS.txt will open.
Click Yes at the next prompt for Optional Scan.
When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
    • DDS.txt
    • Attach.txt
  • Save both reports to your desktop
  • Please include the following logs in your next reply: DDS.txt and Attach.txt
