Just a quick note to say thanks for helping me get my computer back. I had the nasty virus "Security Tool" on my laptop. At first I couldn't download Malwarebytes; even in safe mode and changing the .exe file name. I was finally somehow able to temporarily disable Security Tool myself long enough to download Malwarebytes; ran a quick scan where it found 29 infections. Killed those, started up again and ran a full scan where it found 47 more infections. Re-started and ran the full scan yet again and it found nothing.

This was a nasty virus and I'm still not totally convinced it's gone for good, but it seems to be deeply wounded at the very least. Thanks again.

Cubfan,

You may want to think about visiting the Malware Removal section of the forum to have some experts look at your logs in depth because the latest breed of malware is almost always installing rootkits as well which sounds like the case on your computer and these rootkits are not easily removed. I would highly recommend doing this to ensure that those nasties are gone.

Read this thread first though: I'm infected - What do I do now?

Thanks Swagger. The infection wasn't on my primary computer and I haven't had a chance to get back to it yet. But I was planning on doing that; thanks for the reminder.
