Virus is Blocking Malwarebytes (b.exe?)

I have a friend who is famous for getting viruses on any computer he touches, and for some reason I let him use my PC the other day. Within five minutes, he said that the computer had slowed waaaaaaay down, and when I looked, the firewall turned "itself" off. At that point, my first reflex was to open Malwarebytes but, unfortunately, when it opened, it would not run the scan, and sat at the "preparing to scan" window for 10 minutes before closing out.

I ran Spybot S&D as a second approach when MBAM would give an error message about permissions and would not re-open. Spybot found tons of stuff fairly quickly, but I knew that it wouldn't find everything.

From there, I did everything from resorting to the decrepit VShield, to running Msconfig and turning two obvious threats off, but Malwarebytes still refuses to run, and my computer will not boot in Safe Mode, but instead simply restarts.

The name of the virus was only visible in the Processes tab of the task manager, and in the Startup tab of the Msconfig menu. "b.exe"
It doesn't act like spyware, since no window will actually pop up to identify the threat, but instead slows my computer down to an unbearable level, and since I can't run MBAM, I know that it has to still be on my computer.

I might have left out some details regarding my attempts to get rid of it, but this is the gist of it. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Nate

Hello NoviceTech, and welcome to Malwarebytes.org

We don't work on malware removal in the general forums.

You can try this and see if it helps.

Otherwise, please read and follow the directions here, skipping any steps you are unable to complete. Then post a NEW topic here. One of the expert helpers there will give you one-on-one assistance when one becomes available.
