I have something suspect in my reg, You can not scan reg files with Jotti or Virus total can you?

No you cannot.

I thought not. Is it strange to see a registry item when you look in the start menu and then start to type, I have just seen the one when I type ms I get a reg item for "reg1"

You can find out what the .reg file contains by right clicking on it when it shows up and selecting edit. That will open it in notepad, you can then copy and paste the text it contains here to have it looked at to determine if it might be malicious.
