Please download and run the following and see if that corrects it. http://www.malwareby.../mbam-rules.exe
What Anti-Virus are you running? Did you setup any file exclusions?

thanx for the reply

im currently using a 90 day trial of panda security 2009, no exclusions, the firewall function did quit working a couple weeks ago and am using the windows xp firewall. i did notice that a couple poker sites that i havent been to in a while also have the same problem, "update server not available" and "connectivity problem", although the one i usually go to connected and updated just fine. i also installed a new cable modem 2 months ago, might be why the older ones dont connect.

will download and install the file you suggested

thanx again

Did you try to setup file exclusions for Panda or you Firewall as discussed in the FAQ I linked to earlier? Almost guaranteed that Panda or Firewall is blocking it.

yes i did enter them into the allowed programs list, but as i said earlier the panda firewall is not working correctly,, after entering them, i went back and they dont show. i also entered them into the windows xp firewall exceptions,, that didnt work either. am trying to contact panda support to help resolve the firewall issues.

thanx again

If the Panda Firewall component is installed, then the Windows Firewall should not be running as 2 or more firewalls can conflict with one another. If you don't have any luck with Panda Support you can save your registration information such as your license/product key etc and uninstall Panda, then reboot your computer and reinstall it to see if that corrects the issue. Just be sure to disconnect your internet connection cable from your PC while uninstalling and reinstalling it as your computer will not be adequately protected during the periods in which no antivirus software is installed.

thanx exile360

thats what im going to try to do is reinstall panda. i know i dont use 2 firewalls, and the panda firewall is installed but it is always turned off, panda asks to turn it on, the reboot, and still off,,, so i leave windows firewall on for now. panda even said "conflicting firewalls, do you wish to use panda", but it turns off windows firewall and panda still wont turn on

If reinstalling doesn't fix Panda then please let me know what version of Panda you are running (ie 2009, 2010 etc) and I can assist you :) .

Thanks :)

I have this same issue while running the update...I had to install malwarebytes from a thumbdrive because name resolution to malwarebytes.org is not working. I cannot ping malwarebytes.org, when i perform an nslookup the dns server provides returns on every name except malwarebytes.org. I checked the host files and cleared the DNS cache, etc....I believe my error is becuase the update cannot find the home server. An initial scan did find three exe files that it did remove. I'm still looking for the culprit that is messing up my name resolution.

@fourspdtom: Please uninstall Panda through Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel and then reboot your computer and run the Panda 2009 Removal Tool.

Let me know if it helps.

Thanks ;)

now that worked,, uninstalled panda,, ran the mwb update and ran a full scan . nothing new was found though after all that lol. my couple poker programs that wouldnt run or update worked fine. and i didnt notice before that spybot s/d wouldnt update either but now does so.

for now i reinstalled panda, although the firewall still doesnt work, and am loking for a different virus scan and firewall,,, any suggestions?? my isp provides a mcafee based security suite that i might try [again] but i want to try something else first to see if i like better.

i do appreciate all your help ,, if you ever have car troubles hit me up and ill try to return the favor

thanx once again

The following are my recommendations for antivirus protection along with links to downloads for them (free trials for those that require a purchase so you can try them before deciding):

Note: If you decide to use one of the trial versions of one of the paid antiviruses then you will either need to purchase it or uninstall it completely and install a replacement antivirus before the trial expires so that your PC is not left unprotected.
