My girlfriend's computer picked up Antivirus Plus. I can't seem to beat all of it. I was able to rename and remove a couple of the more nasty bits, but I'm having trouble with some of the finer points. Most frustrating is that it has apparently taken away some of my admin privelages. When booted in normal mode I can't access the task manager. Even when booted in safe mode I can't get into regedit.

When I try to install anti-malware I get all the way through the installation, and I can sometimes even open the program for a split second before mbam.exe gets deleted.

I got sysinternals' process explorer to work, but none of the processes look suspicious.

Please try this version of malwarebytes: Click the link here
Save it on your desktop.
Doubleclick on it, so it will extract it and then run. You'll see a new folder on your desktop where the "temporary malwarebytes" version is located.

I tried the random name installer. Same result.

Did you download the file to your desktop? Rename that file to explorer.exe
Then run the explorer.exe present on your desktop.

This is a nasty little bugger, I am running Mb from a combination of jump drive and local machine install, but I still cant get it gone!
