Malware Bytes is installed and has been used for some time. A new infection seems to be preventing it from running. It will run for 5 seconds of the scan then stop. Also the MBAM.EXE file is modified so that it will no longer run. Either just the permissions or the actual file structure is messed with to prevent running.
If I back up the mbam.exe file before an attempt, then replace it once it fails, I can then run Malware bytes again, but it still fails.
I have tried the randomly renamed mbam.exe solution listed elsewhere to no avail.
As a symptom, I've been prevented from logging in with Windows Domain Credentials. I'm getting errors stating that domain controllers aren't available, and that of course is not the case.
Dell Precision Workstation 380,
Win XP
4 GB Ram
500 GB HD
ATI Video
I would appreciate help recovering my system.
Thanks!
Malwarebytes starts, then shuts down within 5 seconds and no longer run.

I believe Combofix took care of the main piece of Malware that was causing me problems. I don't know why rootrepeal won't run on my machine, but I can get Superantispyware and Malware Bytes to run for longer than 5 seconds now.
I'm going to do complete scans with both of these and hopefully take care of any residual issues. I still can't log in with Domain Credentials, so I'm going to remain vigilant till this issue is corrected.
Any suggestions are still very welcome.
Thanks.

Hi and welcome to Malwarebytes.
My apologies for the delay. Do you still need help?
