Since recently, Zonealarm decided to include a "ZoneAlarm Spy Blocker toolbar" as well which is an optional during install.

However, this Toolbar now uses the AskJeeves/Ask.com searchengine.

More info: here.

This Toolbar is not recommened. See here: here.

Also, as I said, it is an optional during install, but it was pre-checked and it doesn't provide more info about the ask.com toolbar. It only says that the toolbar gives extra protection. So what would a user do in such case? Install it ofcourse...

Question: Does an unwanted and not recommended toolbar like Ask make the ZoneAlarm Spy Blocker Toolbar a possible malware?

I don't think it makes it malware outright. I think it's an optional thing. We can base our recommendation about it, but it's upto the consumer as to wether they install it knowing that it has the search engine.

Actually, they don't know since it's not displayed there where the toolbar option is present:

Not even an EULA. Spysweeper displayed at least an eula there.

All it says is that you get "extra security"
Yeah.. sure.
So what will people do? Install it.

It may not be an angel, but it's not Rogue. This won't be added to the database.
