Used integral updater, no problems encountered smile.gif.

(Read some of the comments over at FF, ludicrous springs to mind.)

Some minor comments. Right clicking on an individual file in Windows Explorer (XP Home SP2) and trying to run a scan on that file does not work. Icon shows but doesn't pull up MBAM when you click on it.

Log file saved to C:\Documents and Settings\--- Is there a particular reason this is the default loctaion?

Application Data is the proper place to write settings, logfiles, basically anything after the installation on Vista. I figured why not use it for all operating systems.

Marcin:

I can confirm that the cause of those 0 byte files I've been complaining about are due to my Comodo Firewall Pro 3.0- specifically its Defense+ (HIPS) module.

The solution is simple, and does not require uninstalling CFP: simply choose to "deactivate permanently" the Defense+ option in CFP prior to running a clean install of MBAM for the first time. To do this:
1) Open CFP 3
2) Click on Defense+ icon at the top
3) Click on Advanced (under Defense+ Tasks) on the left side
4) Click on Defense+ Settings
5) Put a check in the box next to "Deactivate the Defense+ permanently" >[Apply]
6) Reboot

No matter how many scans/reboots I do subsequently- those 0 byte files are neither generated nor detected. MBAM .89 now works in all aspects- and faster than ever.

After running MBAM, one can re-activate Defense+ by repeating steps 1-4 above, and unchecking that box>[Apply]>reboot.

I apologise for the extra work I must have put you through about this. I had previously tried "disabling" Defense+, rather than "permanently deactivating", not realising that after rebooting it must have re-enabled something somehow (even though it still said "disabled"). I'm just glad I can still have my cake (MBAM) and eat it too (CFP HIPS)!
