  • Fixed issue where "Error Code 6" displayed at the end of scans
  • Fixed issue on Windows XP where scheduled scans on reboot would not start if the "Enable self-protection module" was checked
  • Malwarebytes Anti-Malware now honors self-protection settings detected from a previous installation
  • Fixed issue where context menu scan was not honoring user selection under detection and protection setting
  • Several issues with notification were fixed
  • Several enhancements were made to the user interface to address accessibility issues
  • Several UI and user experience enhancements implemented

Improvements

  • Updated user interface design that showcases a much cleaner look and toned-down color scheme
  • Improved scan flow so all scans now automatically check for and apply the latest database updates
  • Simplified quarantine flow so only one action button is presented when threats are detected
  • Several improvements to malware detection and remediation capabilities, including enhanced detection and removal of rootkits
  • The Minimize button now minimizes the main program window to the taskbar instead of to the tray
  • The default display timeout for notifications was changed to 3 seconds instead of 7 seconds

  • Removed support for Thai language due to quality issues with the translation
  • Installation of a Consumer/Home version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware over a Business version is now blocked

Known Issues:

  • Certain elements of the user interface, such as tables, do not support screen readers.  We’ll continue to improve our support for accessibility-related items over the next several releases.
  • The version information displayed the Protection Log for program updates is displaying an incorrect fourth digit.  The fourth digit represents the build number, and if curious, you can find the exact build on the About screen in Settings.
  • The informational messages that display during scans (and on the Scan Results page in the Free version) are only available in English for the time being.  We hope to provide translations for these in a future release.  There may be other minor issues around missing translations, which vary by specific language.

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.1.6 (Released April 16, 2015)

Issues Fixed:

  • Fixed crash during Heuristic Analysis phase when scanning
  • Fixed SDK database load errors by making a change to temporarily ignore the “Check for updates before scanning” setting for Scheduled Scans
  • Fixed crash when editing or removing an Access Policy if the name and description fields in the policy were different
  • Fixed issue where the “Restart computer when required for threat removal” setting did not appear correctly on Add or Edit Schedule dialogs
  • Updated end user license agreement

Known Issues:

  • The fix for the SDK database load error issue referenced above is not a permanent fix, but rather a work-around as we continue to investigated these errors.  As soon as we have a more permanent solution we plan to roll back the work-around and again honor the “Check for updates before scanning” setting.  We should hopefully have this ready for our next release, which will be coming soon.
  • If you continue to see these errors after installing 2.1.6, then please reduce the overall number of scheduled scans and updates you have set up.  If you stick with the default daily Threat Scan and one scheduled Update Check every couple hours, then you should be fine.
