Hi, I'm infected with: Worm.win32.netbooster2

I downloaded and installed HijackThis

I did a system scan and save a log file

couple quick questions,
1. the panda active scan appears to only run from the internet. Is there any way I can run it without connecting to the net?
2. does the order matter with the scans? could I do the hijack this scan before i do the panda active scan?

Yes the order matters and I've added another step to remove temporary files that can hide malware

STEP 1
1. Download Spybot Search & Destroy - UPDATE the files from the Intenet (yes you have to connect)
2. Be sure to use the immunize feature
3. Do NOT enable the Tea Timer
4. Scan your hard drive and then remove any items it finds.
5. Post that log here.


STEP 2

• Follow these instructions carefully.
  
• Download ATF-Cleaner from Snapfiles.com to remove un-needed temporary files from your computer that may contain malware.
  
• You can also download it from Majorgeeks.com
  
• When you run ATF-Cleaner, check the items as shown below for Main.
  
• For FireFox, be sure to click on the FireFox tab on top and check the items as shown below for FireFox
  
• NOTE: If you don't have FireFox or Opera installed then they will be grayed out and can be ignored
  
• Then click on "Empty Selected".

STEP 3
1. Click on the UPDATE tab in the Malwarebytes program and get the UPDATES Very Important
2. Perform a Quick Scan
3. Clean any items found and reboot if requested
4. Post that log here

STEP 4
1. Either Run the PANDA or the NOD32 Online Scanner

• Run an online scan with ESET from Free Virus Scan: Use ESET's Online Antivirus Scanner
  
  • You must use Internet Explorer for this online scan. FireFox, Opera, etc will not work for this scan.
    
    
  • Accept the terms and click "Start".
    
    
  • Once the scanner is ready, check "Remove found threats" AND "Scan unwanted applications".
    
    
  • Click "Start" to begin the scan.
    
    
  • When completed restart your computer

STEP 5
1. Run TrendMicro™ HijackThis™ and do a Scan Only and post back that log

You will have the following logs to post back here when you return.
MAKE SURE YOU UPDATE ALL PROGRAM Definition Files - new Malware comes out every day and using OLD definitions will not allow your system to be properly cleaned.

LOGS TO POST:
A. Spybot Search & Destroy
B. Malwarebytes
C. PANDA or NOD32
D. New HiJackThis log (ONLY AFTER FOLLOWING the exact steps above)

If you don't follow the directions given then it will take us longer to help you get your system cleaned up and costs us more time as well.

You may be able to download the NOD32 Trial to scan your system but you would need to remove your current Antivirus product. Running multiple Antivirus products often conflict with each other.

AntiVirus and AntiMalware products are not the same but they do overlap each other.

I reran spybot & this time it only found 2 things, one had 5 parts though. Anyway, there was no log. There's nothing to export or anything. I could do a print screen & post the image I guess but there's no log that I could find.

No, that's okay. Were you able to run Malwarebytes with updates, and do the NOD32 Online scan now?

can I skip the nod32 online scan? I'm not in a place where I can connect this machine to the internet. The one I'm using to get online is a work machine.

Get the latest Database rules for MBAM from here and then get them to that other PC and run it.

Without running another good Anti-Malware and Anti-Virus scanner I can not tell you that your box is clean
as obviously it's not even with older program data. You need to use up to date tools to do the scans.

I would try try to maybe download the NOD32 full trial from their site. Burn it to CD and take it home
and then install it and run the scan from NOD32 to see what it finds.

Then after a scan with CURRENT Malwarebytes database rules and a NOD32 scan completed post back their logs
and another HiJackThis log.
