I just installed the beta 1.45 of Malwarebytes, and when I hit finish to update and start malwarebytes, I get the following error message (twice in a row):

MBAM_ERROR_LOAD_DATABASE (0,0)

I have closed the prompts out and tried to start malwarebytes again, and it still gave the same error.

Greetings Kevlar and welcome :)

Please do the following to see if it resolves your issue:

Windows XP:
  • Click on Start and select Control Panel
  • Open Add/Remove Programs
  • Uninstall Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • Restart your computer very important
  • Download and run mbam-clean.exe from here
  • It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so very important
  • After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here
    • Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via email if using the Pro version
    • Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.
Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray if using the Pro version. Now setup any file exclusions as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications. You may use the guides posted in the FAQ's here or ask me and I'll explain how to do it.

Windows Vista and Windows 7:

Well, at first I thought it was going to work, because it showed the update screen and downloaded a 4.26MB file(not sure if that was the exact number), but after it downloaded the file, it brought up the same exact error(twice for the first start, once per subsequent start).

I followed your guidelines to the "T". Not sure what's up with that...

Can you please verify the following files exist:

C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref
C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\local.dat
C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\config.dat

Also, please note the sizes of the files.

I have them all, here are the file sizes...

rules.ref (4,464,370 bytes)
local.dat (86 bytes)
config.dat (523 bytes)

All of the files, except for config.dat were made today. Config.dat was made 3/12/2010...probably from an older installation

This means that either decryption or decompression failed.

Are you running as administrator? Can you please locate zlib.dll in the Program Files folder for Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and get the file size as well?

I am the main account that Windows 7 sets up on the computer. It was a complete reinstall from vista to 7 pro. I haven't had troubles with any other program that would make me believe that I'm not running as an administrator.

zlib.dll (79,696 bytes)

Can you click Start, click Run, type in the following.

mbam.exe /debugsave

Copy the contents of the C:\mbam-info.txt file here (you can censor your username if you desire).

Thanks!
