No anti-virus?

Please turn-on MBAM's real-time protection and watch its CPU usage.
There are many problems with this with 1.45.

TIA,

François

Vipre 4.0 is my antivirus; and I'm using 1.46beta, not 1.45

There's nothing in your signature about the software you use.
(that's quite useful)

I know you use 1.46beta.
The purpose of the beta is to check that some problems in 1.45 are fixed.
I was describing one of them.

Thanks again,
François

I agree with you about ShyWriter's signature but your "Old P3-1000 with 512MB RAM" is probably best using Windows 98SE not XP.

When my old P3 died a horrible death it forced me to buy a new system capable of running Windows 7 64bit.

My old XP Home system at 2.4GHZ P4 with 512MB RAM was quite slow but it performed OK and now is in use by one of my neighbors.

P4 2.8GHZ, 1.5GB RAM, 40GB HD, XP Pro SP3, 32-bit, avast! V6.0 Pro, Macrium Reflect
with IE8 and Chrome, hpHosts, MVPS HOSTS files, MBAM Full, OpenDNS, SpeedFan, WinPatrol PLUS

FWIW, MBAM 1.44 real-time was running like a charm here, and it was only a few weeks ago.
There's something wrong going with 1.45.
Downgrading my system to 98SE appears as a ludicrous suggestion to me, with all due respect.

MalwareBytes should *not* force program updates, IMHO.
