The other day, I got a pop-up for Windows SP3. Since I have McAfee, (and Windows XP- btw) I didn't think anything of it and clicked OK. Then it told me to restart. I did. When it rebooted, the system just kept going into loops, telling me that an error occurred and to choose either to start normal or last good start. Whatever I chose, it would just keep restarting over and over again. I ended up restoring my computer to factory settings just to be able to go into it. Today, I installed Malwarebytes anti-malware, did a full scan, and it found 3 infected items. They were quarantined (and I deleted them), I saw the report, but it never asked me to restart. I rebooted anyways. Now, what I want to know is where are all my files and pictures?
I know they're still in the computer somewhere because when I do a scan, it scans all the files I want to see.

MBAM doesn't display every single file it's actively scanning, for performance reasons. SP3 has issues with some machines, depending on software and hardware configuration. Prior existing problems will usually cause a SP to fail installation as well.
Depending on the method you restored with... You haven't told us, your personal files and other data may no longer be present on the machine.
Please explain in detail how you restored your computer to factory settings.

When the computer is starting up, it displays that one of the function keys is to restore to factory settings. I pressed it. (not sure which one it is at the moment...currently on a Vista). When I added another user, her pic came up and I noticed that all the shared files are still there along with all her files. I wasn't able to access all of them, but most of them are still viewable.
sorry for posting the log in this forum. i'm new here. I thought I was doing it right.
