You're too old for that Shy - just like me. Not my cup of tea. Okay I suppose but not something I'd go out and buy. Though I might get some sun glasses like the black guy is wearing.

He's a ex-EOD master blaster - I agree, and make nice, with ANYTHING he says. As in "Jump"; "Yes sir; how high?"..

Never heard of em.

ROFL - No, I'm sure you haven't. I certainly have though, not that I listen to them but on my last trip to the Philippines my wife and friends drug me to some small club that was playing stuff I don't think Shy's Grandfather even listened to

I'll listen to just about anything though. Here is just a small sampling of stuff I listen to from time to time.

Generally a good play list for any variety music radio station -

8.Deep Purple - Smoke on the water

Downloaded and on my favorites CD : The main one I was missing - Thanks -

56.Dave Brubeck - Take Five - Nothing wrong there -

43.Queen -- Bohemian Rhapsody - A bit long (I've got it )

Frankie Valli and the 4 Seasons is all that is missing - But I have 2 double CD's (enough for now) -

Just turn up Sherry or Walk Like a Man , and you can zone out -

Here are some that ShyWriter was talking about and even Glenn Campbell

  1. What a Wonderful World - Louis Armstrong
  2. Gisele MacKenzie & Jack Benny: legendary violin duet "Getting to Know You"

  3. Roy Clark Guitar Wizard
  4. Roy Clark - Black Sapphire / (Fingers on Fire)

I'll take the first 3 for a $100, Alex.. (err.. Ron!) What a Wonderful World is a Armstrong classic that still gets you right in the heart when he sings. I'm not too much into Campbell, Clark or Atkins - I think goldhound was the country music seeker. I take that back; I must have worn out the Video CD in REPEAT MODE of Shania Twain singing ANY MAN OF MINE out on that horse ranch and her in tub, jeans and then red dress. Of course, that's before she became a superstar, married Mutt, divorced Mutt, and who knows where she is now.

Country music today is better because most of it's crossover.. When I was growing up, I had to listen to Grand Ole Opry, Minnie Pearl, "Your dog bit my leg as I was trying to lay a kiss on yours" type country. Lived near Nashville.. ughh! Martina McBride, Faith Hill, Shania, and that breed is a bit easier on the ear.

PS: Thanks for mentioning Benny and his violin.. Most people know him as a comedian.. and a cheapskate (a part he played well).. He was also a world class violinist. :)

Kinda kidding Shy, i'm quite eclectic regarding my music. Country but good country. I had to listen to way too much "corn country" as a kid and detest it.

I can happily listen to ABBA right after Mario Lanza, then hit on Satchmo followed by CCR.

Oh, and the Platters are way up my list!

Oh yeah.. I love songs from the 60s, 70s and 80s.. Every time I hear one of my oldie but goldie tunes my mind goes back to girls, places and interesting things.. Funny how older people's minds (well; me anyway) can grab crystal clear memories from that far back and yet can't remember what the wife wanted me to do off her "honey do" list she just asked this morning. :D (Well; in my defense; that COULD just be SELECTIVE HEARING on MY part.. *GRIN*)

I mostly like soft jazz these days as a background for whatever I'm doing.. And yet, when washing the car or trimming shrubs, a bit of "bombastic-type" reggae gets my butt a'moving.. *laugh*

@Shy

I added Roy Clark and Chet not because of their actual music (not really into that myself), but there guitar playing skills are simply amazing I think.

Oh yeah; I can appreciate the skills.. In fact who's that fiddle player that plays the Devil went down to Georgia song - Charlie Daniels??

Yep; here you go

He plays a mean fiddle in that TV commercial too.. :D
