My messages are being sent in doubles or triplicates and I get back messages, at times,
in doubles and triplicates on both my laptop and desktop. Malwarebytes fixed the problem
on my laptop (XP and Express mail) but doesn't find anything wrong on my Desktop.
Desktop is Vista, Home, using just Microsoft Mail.
Thoughts?

Probably due to an error from your mail provider. I would send them an email and check on that first. It happens to us at times as well from our ISP often due to the SPAM Guard box being used to control messages.
Since both systems are getting this and your mailbox gets mail from the same provider it would seem to indicate the Mail Server as the first place to look.
