so one day out of the blue, I get this red badge with an x in the middle of it in my sys tray.
I get online and search for reasons, and every where I read it says you got a virus / rouge software
that (YOU) volintarily installed.....
"I never isntalled anything"
yet the forum tech posts all over malware ring of user installs how we all volintarily installed antivirus-bla-bla
.......

some of you guys need to shut the hell up and quit saying we volunteered to install this rouge
if you've volinteered to help€,then help and dont verbaly spank peeps every time they post to a thread that fits thier problem,
split the post off, don't just gut thier post because your above us and we are stupid little internet junkies!

A new user comes along and reads the malware forums for a solution, not abuse.


here is my scenario......

So I look in the forums and wow look "MBAM wont install"
Tech posts says get this and install it......
user......Hmmmm my symptoms match these exactly and to a T
user...... why not, I can do this....
new user posts.......MBAM wont istall...
tech----OK get this and install it
user------ it didnt work
tech......OK get this one and install it
user----HMMMM what could it be, that desnt work?
tech.....then get this and install it
user.....it wont work iether
tech----wow why wont that one work?

OK I am well into week 3, I have installed about every kind of virus/malware remover on the net......
with each of the leading antivirus software programs, every few seconds
I had a pop up windows saying, a new or different Trojan or virus or spyware was found in my system.
each program had a different result with a list of trojan/virus/spyware or who knows what that it found
in each case the plethora of programs fund different stuff?
it was like they all are fakes, with fake results for each and each wanting an upgrade at $$$$$$$$$ bucks

I had defender it didnt work
windows firewall didnt work
downloaded tendmicro it didnt work
got symantic pc-cillen it didnt work
mc cafee didnt work
got malwware it wouldnt install
spybiot also wont install altho parts of it wanted to block everything even the windows logon screen in boot up!
avira didnt work it found things i haddnt seen before but hey they all have a trojan they wanted to scare me with

So in a bold move I uninstalled the last virus software 'avira',
bet you'd never guess what I got in my systray now??????
NOTHING........
NO WARNINGS
NO SCARETACTICS
NO FREE OFFERS THAT WANT $
NO REDIRECTS OF MY BROWSERS
I don't get a pop up or a trojan alert !
nothing at all !

my browsing is the same speed as it was, before I got the little popup about a virus.
the little red x was a ruse to get me to buy a virus scanner,
it is not a real problem people, its a fake just ignore it and it will go away.......

after removing every scrap of virus protection except defender and my fire wall
I AM BROWSING AND DOWNLOADING UPLOADING ECT, ECT. WITH NO PROBLEMS AND WITHOUT YOUR HELP!

EVEN IF I HAVE A BUG
I AM GOING TO WAIT UNTIL SOME ONE COMES UP WITH A SUREFIRE SOLUTION
NOT A ROAD TO INSANE INSTALLTIONS OF EVERY PIECE OF MALWARE REMOVER ON THE PLANET

Sorry to see you had such a hard time. Often rogues now get in by what are called "drive by" downloads. Basically a trojan will install itself without your knowlege or consent and then it will download the rogue software to your system. As far as anti-malware tools not installing, we've seen that a lot too. It's related to a rootkit/trojan (basically a very well hidden piece of malicious software) that get's downloaded/installed by the trojan and then blocks many anti-malware programs from installing or running. I don't know about elsewhere, but I haven't seen too much condescension here on this forum, after all, we've all been there. In fact, that's the reason many of us become helpers with other people's malware troubles. We've seen it before, it frustrated us, made us angry and we were upset that the writers of all these viruses and malicious code were getting away with it. So we learned all we could about fighting it, some of the more advanced users even created their own specialized tools to remove some of the really nasty stuff, and here we are today trying to help people who have encountered these terrible problems when all they wanted to do was use their computers. I sympathize, I really do, I've been treated well by techs in the past, and I've been treated like an idiot, which wasn't helpful at all. If you are truly clean I am glad but if the alerts come back and you are willing to deal with me or any of the other users here, please don't hesitate to ask for help. Again, I'm very sorry you had a bad experience here, but I hope that in the future should you need assistance again that you will be willing to ask and that the person you deal with will help you in a kind and professional manner.
