there's two new icons on the desktop. 1. run virus scan and 2. Run spyware test. System Alert! popup says: "Your system might be infected with malicious software that may impact the perforamnce of your computer. Click the Icon for a free scan to detect any active spyware applications". I haven't clicked on either of the 2 icons nor the pop message. Still, computer seemed to be hijacked, Internet Explorer is blank and unaccessible. Hour Glass going.
Under Properties of the two new icons I see the following:
Description: Run Virus Scan
URL: removethis.linksforclicks.com/soft/?c=68195
Description: Online Spyware Test
URL: removethis.linksforclicks.com/test/?c=78196
Can not create new folders with Window Explorewr thou I was able to copy backup files.
AVG 8.0 does not see it.
How do we fix or remove?
I Googled but could not find anything.
Computer is useless...appreciate guidance
Thanks

Greetings and welcome to Malwarebytes'. To get you fixed up, please try downloading Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here: http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php and install and update it then run a quick scan. Once the scan is complete tell it to fix anything found and reboot if necessary. If that doesn't get rid of it, please let me know and I'll help you further. Good luck and safe surfing.
