ok so basically, my little sister downloaded bandoo the other day unaware of the searchqu bundling. she decided she didnt like it and removed bandoo but searchqu is still the homepage. we have tried the usual set google to homepage but it reverts everytime we open a new window or tab on firefox. malwarebytes didnt detect this and is unable to do so still. have tried killing all found instances of searchqu with gmer rootkit scanner. also attempted with fileassasin in malwarebytes still there and still hijacking the homepage. HALP ME MBAM FORUMS YOUR MY ONLY HOPE! :)

os is windows 7 home premium 64bit (latest updates)
malwarebytes antimalware pro (latest updates)

-------------

Please download ATF Cleaner
Save it to your Desktop.

Please locate ATF
  • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
  • Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
If you use Firefox browser, do this also:
  • Click Firefox at the top and choose Select All from the list.
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
  • NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.

  • Click the Empty Selected button.
  • NOTE: : If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

-------------

Please do the following:

  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your Desktop.
NOTE: Before scanning, make sure all other running programs are closed
There shouldn't be any scheduled antivirus scans running while the scan is being performed.
Do not use your computer for anything else during the scan.

  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explanation about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results.
