Hello -

I am having a similar problem to the post by Luz. My browsers (IE and Firefox) have been highjacked. Random sites in both browsers are popping up and sometimes the browsers start on their own. The malware won't let me go to websites that have to do with malware (malwarebytes included) nor the windows update site. I can't get to the malwarebytes site so I am communicating from a non-infected computer. Some of the software programs that I have tried to install and run to clear this up are blocked (sometimes get a message that the system administrator has configured settings to keep the software from being installed or run.) All users on the computer are part of the adminstrators group, and I did not change any of the settings, nor did anyone else. The regular user of the computer ran adaware when the first occurence of the random web pages started coming up and it found and removed a couple of trojan files (reported as Generic dropper.bu). McAfee also found and deleted a.exe. There also was an installation of Virus Respone Lab 2009 2.1 which seems to have been removed. I also noticed in the add/remove programs applet that there are a couple of suspect entries, "Warning Center" and "Windows Safety Alert".
