I see this ? was posted a year ago.I did not understand the ? the replier asked, but also the rest of the possible solution did not say if it could be used on Vista or if by now, there is a more updated possible solution. The box "destination component" keeps coming up on my computer and also 2 other small boxes. They say, the feature you are trying to use is on a CD Rom of other removeable disc that is not available. Insert the destination component and click ok. I have tried 2 or 3 defragmenting tools to see if this will remove as well as the overall windows cleaning tool. It has been on my computer for a few months now. I'm not sure how or when it began, but I believe it is slowing things down. Please help. Keep it simple. I am not a real knowledgeable computer owner, but am willing to learn.

This happens when something is wrong with the Windows Installer Service (MSI). Here are some things you can do:

a) Download and install the Windows Installer 3.1 Redistributable

b) Download and run Dial-a-fix, which has an automated fix for MSI corruptions.

Unfortunately Dial-a-fix won't work on Vista (pops up with a message saying as much as soon as you try to run it). So I think option a) is your only chance at this point, unless someone knows a tool that does what dial-a-fix does but works with Vista.

After you've saved the file, simply double click it, reboot and then see if it works now.
