Then click on "Fix checked"

Then run this AntiVirus tool

Download to the desktop: Dr.Web CureIt

• Doubleclick the drweb-cureit.exe file and Allow to run the express scan
  
• This will scan the files currently running in memory and when something is found, click the yes button when it asks you if you want to cure it. This is only a short scan.
  
• Once the short scan has finished, Click Options > Change settings
  
• Choose the "Scan"-tab, remove the mark at "Heuristic analysis".
  
• Back at the main window, mark the drives that you want to scan.
  
• Select all drives. A red dot shows which drives have been chosen.
  
• Click the green arrow at the right, and the scan will start.
  
• Click 'Yes to all' if it asks if you want to cure/move the file.
  
• When the scan has finished, look if you can click next icon next to the files found:
  
  If so, click it and then click the next icon right below and select Move incurable as you'll see in next image:
  
  This will move it to the %userprofile%\DoctorWeb\quarantaine-folder if it can't be cured. (this in case if we need samples)
  
• After selecting, in the Dr.Web CureIt menu on top, click file and choose save report list
  
• Save the report to your desktop. The report will be called DrWeb.csv
  
• Close Dr.Web Cureit.
  
• Reboot your computer!! Because it could be possible that files in use will be moved/deleted during reboot.
  
• After reboot, post the contents of the log from Dr.Web you saved previously in your next reply with a new hijackthis log.

Then when that's done run the following.

Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system.

Please download JavaRa and unzip it to your desktop.

***Please close any instances of Internet Explorer (or other web browser) before continuing!***

• Double-click on JavaRa.exe to start the program.
  
• From the drop-down menu, choose English and click on Select.
  
• JavaRa will open; click on Remove Older Versions to remove the older versions of Java installed on your computer.
  
• Click Yes when prompted. When JavaRa is done, a notice will appear that a logfile has been produced. Click OK.
  
• A logfile will pop up. Please save it to a convenient location.

Then run this...
Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

• Start MalwareBytes AntiMalware
  
  • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    
  • Select the Update tab
    
  • Click Update
• When the update is complete, select the Scanner tab
  
• Select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
  
• When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  
• Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  
• When completed, a log will open in Notepad. please copy and paste the log into your next reply
  
  • If you accidently close it, the log file is saved here and will be named like this:
    
  • C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\mbam-log-date (time).txt

Then RESTART the computer and AFTER the restart run a new HJT scan and save log.
Post back ALL the logs and I'll assist you further on Monday when I return.

  • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    
  • Select the Update tab
    
  • Click Update
• When the update is complete, select the Scanner tab
  
• Select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
  
• When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  
• Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  
• When completed, a log will open in Notepad. please copy and paste the log into your next reply
  
  • If you accidently close it, the log file is saved here and will be named like this:

Run it and it should update your DB for you. If you look on the UPDATE tab after the update it should show a much newer version now.

Then run MBAM again and do a Quick Scan and fix anything found and restart the computer.

After the restart run HJT and do another Scan and save log.

That looks good. MBAM no longer shows that infection.

How is the computer running now? Is there still any sign of infection on the system?

If the Malware appears to be gone now we can cleanup and move on to the PC Help forum and work on fixing other items that might not be working correctly on the system.

So does Windows update work now ? What error message do you get?

Please run this tool.

• Download FixPolicies.exe by Bill Castner and save it to your desktop.
  
• Double click on FixPolicies.exe to run it.
  
• Click on Install. It will create a folder named FixPolicies on your desktop.
  
• Open the FixPolicies folder.
  
• Double click on Fix_policies.cmd to run it. Command Prompt will open and close quickly this is normal.
  
• Reboot your computer after it runs

Ran FixPolicies. Found out window's update was turned off. Turned it on but they seem to fail.

Not really sure this is a problem but it keeps trying to install when logging out.

Malwarebytes still doesn't update though. System restore only has December 2008 and September 2003. That's all I see.

Yes System Restore could be damaged and have invalid entries from Malware anyways.

Once it is cleaned up you will need to disable it and remove all the old restore points and then re-enable it and create a new restore point.

If Microsoft Office 2007 is a Trial and the trial is up and you don't plan on buying it then I would recommend that you go into your Control Panel Add/Remove and remove it.

When you say MBAM won't update, what happens when you click on check for updates?

MBAM: When I click on check for updates a window opens and nothing happens...usually update is immediate...it does update in the safe mode.

Okay, please uninstall MBAM and reboot the computer. Then download a NEW version and install it and see if you're still having the same issue or not and let me know.

I uninstall MBAM and rebooted the computer. Then I downloaded a NEW version and installed it. (twice from 2 sites)

What I discovered was that the new version data base was 1456. (Even when I downloaded from the db 1571 site).

Also some how it remembers my pass history as if the version I removed was reinstalled. ???

Yes the Registry and folder C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
keep information about your install.

The download has old DB files as it was built a long time ago now, that is why it needs updates. The definition files are updated often each day normally.

So are you able to launch and get updates with the program now?
How is the system running? Are there any signs of an infection anymore?

I am still unable to launch and get updates with the program. Update window opens... no update. System running ok. (Spybot & avg able to update.) No visible signs of infection but a haven't run any new scans.
