where can i download the latest mbam version

Recommended Posts

it's finished the file is mbam-setup.exe from dll.betanews.com

is this right?

or i downloaded another thing?

i hope i didn't download a threat file

I don't recognize that site.

Plus, you don't really want to install a beta build.

As a home user, you might be better staying with the stable release builds (current is 1.51.0.1200).

I would use the link I gave you, which will take you to one of a handful of legitimate mirror sites (majorgeeks.com, cnet.com, etc).

I would only download from one of these.

Personally, I prefer majorgeeks, but any of the official mirror sites should be OK.

Here are the complete instructions for a clean install.

If you need to, clear your browser cache and clear your cookies, and then start again from the beginning....

MBAM Clean Re-installation Instructions:

(NOTE: If you do not already have MBAM on your computer, start with Step 2.)

NOTE: You need to be logged in as an administrator.

1. Download and run mbam-clean.exe from here.

Note:It will ask to restart your computer; please allow it to do so -- very important!

2. After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus (AV) and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here. (Note: Ignore any promos or ads for other software/products at the mirror sites; and there is no fee to download MBAM Free. DO NOT click on any buttons or links for any other product or program!)

Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via email, if you are using the PRO version.

3. Launch MBAM (and set the Protection and Registration, if you are using the PRO version).

4. Go to the UPDATE tab, if not done during installation, and check for updates.

5. Restart the computer again (and, if you are using the PRO version, verify that the MBAM icon is in the system tray).

6. Set up any file exclusions as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications. You may use the guides posted in the FAQs here, or ask and we'll explain how to do it. (Specific steps depend on the AntiVirus software vendor & version, and on your computer's OS).

7. Restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications.

8. Add the program folder(s) for your AV and FW to MBAM's "Ignore List".(Let us know if you need help with this.)

9. Set up your scheduled updates & scheduled scans (this only applies to the PRO version). Scheduler help is available here.

10. Run an MBAM Quick Scan.

Hi, tito335:

I just tried the download link and it works fine for me.

Can you post a screenshot of the web page from which you are downloading?

Something doesn't sound right-- is there a possibility the computer could be infected?

ok screen shot

infected no i don't think so.

Can you clear out all your browser cache and history and cookies, close IE completely and try again?

If you are using some sort of download manager, try it without that.

I would also go into whatever folder or location to which you think you are saving the downloaded file and delete any copies of it.

Or perhaps use another browser?

Other than that, I really don't know what to suggest. :(

Sorry!

Hi, again, tito:

We seem to be going around and around in circles here. :(

So, I'm sorry if you are still confused. :(

Let's start from the beginning. :)

1) If you click on the mbam download link in my original reply here, it will take you to one of several official, legitimate "mirror" sites.

If you are sure you are on one of those sites, then, yes, the file you download will be the real thing.

At those sites, there may be other products or services or software being offered or sold, but all you need to do is to be sure to click on the link for the mbam-setup.exe file.

Do NOT click on any other links, buttons or download offers -- only select to download the MBAM file.

2) Save it somewhere, e.g. on your desktop or in your downloads folder.

3) Then, please follow the instructions I gave you here. If you don't already have MBAM installed on this particular machine, start with step #2. In order to install MBAM using the mbam-setup.exe file in Vista or Win7, just right-click on it and select "run as administrator". It is best to follow my advice and temporarily pause Avira protection before doing this step, just as I explained.

4) There should be no conflicts with Avira, so long as you set up the correct reciprocal exclusions for MBAM and Avira during steps #6 and #8 of that installation sequence. There are some specific steps for this with Avira. But I think it might be best if we just get through the first part of the process. Then we can work on the details.

Let us know how it goes,

daledoc sorry if made you feel bad

or something

yes all the above i already know

i installed mbam on my laptop b4

but the link was majorgeeks and not the strange fileforum which states in it's download that it's betanews

which is really confusing

but any ways i looked at the pics carefully especially the first ones

and i found:

- that fileforums is at betanews.com (at the address bar)

- since i did exactlly as you told me 2 times and betanews still exists so i guess it's a safe file, right?

- also it's similar to the file which i downloaded later (bleepingcomuter)(size and name).

so i guess that file of betanews is safe .right?

thanks any way and i will begin installation soon
