@ Neophobia:

That option to notify for automatically d/l and installing a new version is relatively new.
New version updates (as opposed to malware database/definition updates) typically require a system reboot; so that can be inconvenient for some folks.
And some folks just like to control their software program updates, doing them "manually".

So, it is OK to leave the box checked, if you wish (especially if you like things to update more or less automatically).
Or, you can uncheck it if you wish, so long as you sign up for the newsletter or visit the forum from time to time, so that you'll know when a new MBAM program version is released.

Either way should be fine, depending on whether or not you like to have a bit more control over the program update process.

You should be able to clear your browser cache/cookies and it will likely send you to a different mirror, otherwise you can visit MajorGeeks.com directly and use their search function. Just search downloads for "Malwarebytes" and it should be one of the first links :).

V1.51.1 hangs here while scanning memory (the first step of Quick Scan), apparently at "C:\Program Files\Avira\AntiVir Desktop\avguard.exe" (the window soon becomes unresponsive). I don't think it's Avira's fault, the previous version of Anti-Malware worked fine. Win Vista Business SP2.

(I can't seem to edit the post above…)
Just to note that the hard drive LED is constantly lit, and when Anti-Malware becomes unresponsive, the whole system does. It happened with heuristics disabled, and with another file listed at "currently scanning".

Currently, V1.51.1 is unusable; skipping memory scanning also makes the system unresponsive.

Thanks for that post on Avira 1PW. I have Avira Personal Free and do not have Malwarebytes excluded. I've had no issues with the new version
It will be helpful for those I work with that might. :)
Thanks.

Hello turtledove:

You are quite welcome.

But a bigger "Thank You" should go to exile360 (Sam) for authoring the original exclusion document.

I only cut/pasted. :)

Hello and :welcome:

Please do the following:

  • Download and run mbam-clean.exe from here
  • It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so very important
  • After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here
    • Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via email if using the Pro version
    • Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.
Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray if using the Pro version. Now setup any file exclusions as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications. You may use the guides posted in the FAQ's here or ask and we'll explain how to do it.

So I have a computer that was using the Trial version of Malwarebytes. The trial ended early. Is there anyway I can finish the trial or do I just have to keep using it the way it is?

Hello RandomlyKnighted,

Uninstall MBAM then restart the system. Install MBAM 1.51.1 and start the trial.

Let me know if this works for you.

Thank you.

@1PW Thanks, but that didn't work.
Like I said, it sometimes hangs while scanning another DLL/EXE from memory, so Avira is not the culprit. I guess I'll just wait for the next version…

Hello Dante24:

Thank you for entering the Avira exclusions. Please reply to this topic with the following:

Are you licensed for the MBAM PRO version or are you using the freeware version?

Were you using the previous MBAM version successfully?

Have you attempted a clean re-install by first running mbam-clean.exe from here?

Thank you for your continuing patience. :)
