Hi all, I have already done a lot of amatuer work on this infection (happened last night), but I hope it didn't ruin the steps that you guys require to analyze. I will post the Malwarebytes log and the Hijackthis log below, but I've already run extensive scans with Spybot S&D, Spyware Doctor w/Antivirus, AVG and Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. They have collectively caught several infections, including Rapid Antivirus, Backdoor Tidserv! and several Virtumonde malware. "Jucheck.exe" also briefly appeared, but no longer after I removed all Java and Nero related items from my PC (not sure if this is the cause though). I cannot do PandaActiveScan since my friend removed Explorer from my PC the last time he reformatted it for me. Please note that my PC continues to force restarts, often when I run scans. I can provide the other Malware logs if you need them! Thanks so much for help or advice!

Hi there.

Jucheck.exe is safe.

Please follow the instructions and run a Panda scan and post that log here once it's done.

Ok, hope I did this right. After running the scan, I didn't see a log option, but I did get the option to get this txt file. I will look at it again.

Hi sorry, but looking at the instructions post for PandaActiveScan, it appears I did a different PandaActiveScan 2.0 scan b/c I used Firefox. Must I use Internet Explorer and could you please confirm that it's ok for me to try installing/downloading Internet Explorer via the internet? I've been posting here via a separate PC that's not infected since I'm nervous about my infected PC being on-line for too long (is this not necessary?)? Please advise.

Also, I ran another Panda Active Scan 2.0 (thru Firefox) and got the following:

Open open notepad and copy and paste in the following:
MD "%USERPROFILE%"\desktop\malware

xcopy C:\WINDOWS\system32\kbawvp.dll "%USERPROFILE%"\desktop\malware /c /q /r /h /y

Attrib -s -r -h "%USERPROFILE%"\desktop\malware\*.*

Save it as getmalware.bat to the desktop and double-click on it to run it. It will create a folder called malware on your desktop. Please zip up this folder and attach it here in a new topic with a link to this thread. I will get back to you once they have been analyzed.

Sorry, but not sure this is relevant. This morning I discovered that my AVG caught on the reboot a Trojan horse "Generic12.AJRV" and vaulted it. Thanks.

Did it give a file path for the file(s) it removed?

Empty MalwareBytes Quarantine by clicking the quarantine tab and then click Remove All.

Then update Malwarebytes again and do a quick scan & post the new log.

Tigger93: Sorry, but I'm working away from home during the week. I do not recall a filepath from the AVG, but I believe that the AVG vault still holds the infections that it has caught. I can have my wife check for me if necessary. Also, please advise on whether I should have her delete/remove all these infections in the AVG vault/quarantine as well.

I had her "Remove All" from the Malwarebytes vault and update and run a quick scan. I have previously only run full scans when Malwarebytes has caught things on my PC and I currently do not have it connected to the internet since I fear the backdoor virus is continuing to pull in new infections. I will await further instructions. Thanks so much.

Please empty AVG's virus vault.

Then restart your computer and post a new HJT log.

Ok, emptied AVG vault and restarted computer. Ran HijackThis Scan and log is below. Currently do not have Restore on. Also, not sure why Roxio is still showing up. I'm pretty sure that I uninstalled and deleted Roxio a long time ago.

Fix this with HJT:
O20 - AppInit_DLLs: avgrsstx.dll kbawvp.dll

Otherwise you look fine. Please turn system restore back on, don't know why you turned it off in the first place. Are you still having any problems?

Tigger93: Had HijackThis fix the one item you instructed me to fix. Reset to System Restore On and Hide Hidden Files (I think a friend before I reached this site suggested that when scanning). The following popped up from HJT:
"R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://go.microsoft....k/?LinkID=69157

Detailed information on item R1:

A Registry value that has been created and is not present in a default Windows install nor needed, possibly resulting in a changed IE Search Page, Start Page, Search Bar Page or Search Assistant.

(Action taken: Registry value is deleted)."

Clicked ok. Got the following HJT Log:

Connected to internet via Firefox and no visible signs of problem as before, no automatic reboot issues as before. Please confirm that I'm clean and advise which - if any - security programs I should keep on my PC and run them. I have PCTools Spyware Doctor w/Antivirus and Registry Doctor, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, Hijackthis, Spybot S&D, AVG and the PC's Microsoft firewall. Thanks so much for your help!
