Hi folks,
I am a new user of Malwarebytes and think it's great.
I have installed it on an XP machine and all runs well for requesting and receiving a manual update from Malwarebytes.org or SecurityWonks.net. This is using the free version.
However on my Vista Ultimate machine it's a different story. I request an update and it hangs, saying "Looking for malwarebytes.org or SecurityWonks.net", for ever it seems. I have reinstalled and also run it in safemode with network access, same result.
My antivirus software, VIPRE is updating OK and it doesn't help if I disable it or also turning off my firewall.
I did try an exception for Malwarebytes in it but not help.
I have a date of 01/04/09 database 1616/fingerprints 65445 at present.
I see a lot of talk re automatic update not working here but haven't seen anything re manual update hanging.
I should say the scan runs OK.
Any thoughts ?

I am having the same problem with XP and I have done the same as mike000. So from what I can tell, this is Not just a Vista problem.

Please Help!

Open Internet Explorer, check that it is not in "Offline Mode", and check that you can get to both www.securitywonks.net and www.malwarebytes.org

Thanks Arthur.
That did it for me. I normally use Firefox for all my browsing and Thunderbird for email so hadn't noticed IE (or Mail as Vista has) , was offline.

I will be ordering the full version now.
