My desktop works (I can view it through the network via my laptop and transfer files to it), but it displays a blank screen and is unresponsive to mouse clicks.
Can I use the malwarebyte on my laptop to clean a drive on my infected desktop?

No, Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware's special drivers for direct disk access and delete on reboot would be useless, and the malware would not be removed.
I suggest using a bootable CD, such as the Avira AntiVir Rescue System.
