Hello @spedprof and welcome back: In the Mac's display, goto the Menu Bar icon for Malwarebytes for Mac and while selected, click “Stop Malware Protection”. Repeat for “Stop App Block”. Please remember to go back and “Start” both when the issue with Mac Cloud Backup is finished. HTH

Hello @kelizabeth: uBO wouldn't be recommended to you here if any dangers were associated with it. Yes. uBO has its ad blockers (and optionally others), but its additional Adload protections you would be employing. Additionally, if your device's macOS has been updated to Sonoma 14.5, Apple's invisible XProtect/XProtect Remediator scans take place every day and their databases are updated in the background nearly weekly. Of course, with any device/OS, a well-thought-out backup plan is mandatory. HTH Edit: macOS Sonoma was updated earlier today.

Hello @kelizabeth: As it seems, you have already added Malwarebytes Browser Guard (MBG), you may wish to add the free uBlock Origin (uBO) extension to your browsers to afford supplemental protection against the adaptive Adload (malicious adware) malware. Until you become familiar with uBO's capabilities and options, its default settings are adequate for the beginner. HTH
