hi everyone
i have an Acer Aspire 5100 with AMD Turion 64 MT MK-36 2.0 Ghz and had recently upgraded to 4Gb ram due to very slow performance with 1Gb. However, the problem persists, e.g. firefox not responsive, when using skype talking on the phone while browsing on facebook will froze everything up even only these 2 programs are running, streaming of video is good when using youtube, but the playback is not working smoothly at all - it freezes all the time!!! And many many more problems....I'm not sure what to do now, thought upgrading to the max capacity of ram will sort the problem indefinitely, but it doesn't

I've done the following so far:

Freed up disk space
Ran defragmentation
Check for virus using updated Spybot - some issues found and are all cookies - which then I deleted
Used cCleaner to check for any problems again and cleaning
Used Malwarebytes Anti Malware - found no problems
Ran Eusing Registry Cleaner and had cleaned up over 1400 invalid paths

Then eventually i downloaded hijack this v 2.0.2 - and realise also there are about 5 Java versions and 1 java environment - not sure if i should delete them, so i didnt. There are also 2 Acer Obi Cam both shows a different uninstall command, which one of them is:

The other is:

I am not sure why there are two different ones, but i saw something about Rundll32.exe is a virus and should be deleted?

I ran task manager and looked at the processes, i have 66 processes running, CPU usuage various up to around 20% Physical memory is just under 40% Total 2685MB, Cached 1928 and free 66-67 and in the performance tab where is shows a Memory Graph - it shows only 0.99GB RAM ( shouldn't it be 4GB?? thats what it says in the system property too - 4GB...).

There are two "image name" - one is csrss.exe comsuming 5,260k memory and winlogon.exe using 1,432k memory. However, I ran the reliability and Performance monitor, it shows 2 csrss.exe items under the Memory data and one committs to 1,828kb and the other is 10,344kb??? I am concerned cos I searched on yahoo and google, a lot of people say these csrss and winlogon are virus or virus trojan horse etc attached to these 2 exe file. Apparently, everytime I right click a link these files will activate or something like that, but some say they should be left alone as they are legitimate?? I don't know what to do Please help me - I have been doing research, staring at the screen while scannings and still the problem is here.


There are many services under the services tab are running as well, does that affect performance?

I saw a post on the internet saying i should customise the paging file size??

STEP 01
Disable the Spybot Tea Timer - DO NOT continue until you've disabled the Tea Timer

Disable Teatimer
First step:

• Right-click the Spybot Icon in the System Tray (looks like a blue/white calendar with a padlock symbol)
• If you have the new version 1.5, Click once on Resident Protection, then Right click the Spybot icon again and make sure Resident Protection is now Unchecked. The Spybot icon in the System tray should now be now colorless.
• If you have Version 1.4, Click on Exit Spybot S&D Resident

Second step, For Either Version :

• Open Spybot S&D
• Click Mode, choose Advanced Mode
• Go To the bottom of the Vertical Panel on the Left, Click Tools
• then, also in left panel, click Resident shows a red/white shield.
• If your firewall raises a question, say OK
• In the Resident protection status frame, Uncheck the box labeled Resident "Tea-Timer"(Protection of over-all system settings) active
• OK any prompts.
• Use File, Exit to terminate Spybot
• Reboot your machine for the changes to take effect.

STEP 02
Update and Scan with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

• Start MalwareBytes AntiMalware (Vista users must Right click and choose RunAs Admin)
• Please DO NOT run MBAM in Safe Mode unless requested to, you MUST run it in normal Windows mode.
  
  • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • Select the Update tab
  • Click Update
• When the update is complete, select the Scanner tab
• Select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
• When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
• Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
• When completed, a log will open in Notepad. please copy and paste the log into your next reply
  • If you accidently close it, the log file is saved here and will be named like this:
  • C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\mbam-log-date (time).txt

Then post back the MBAM log on your next reply

STEP 03
With all other applications closed (Taskbar empty), open HijackThis again
and run Do a system scan only and place a check mark on the following items.

STEP 04

Download and install CCleaner
• CCleaner
• Double-click on the downloaded file "ccsetup220_slim.exe" and install the application.
• Keep the default installation folder "C:\Program Files\CCleaner"
• Click finish when done and close ALL PROGRAMS
• Start the CCleaner program.
• Click on Registry and Uncheck Registry Integrity so that it does not run (basically the very top, uncheck it)
• Click on Options - Advanced and Uncheck "Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours"
• Click back to Cleaner and under SYSTEM uncheck the Memory Dumps and Windows Log Files
• Click on Run Cleaner button on the bottom right side of the program.
• Click OK to any prompts

STEP 05

Download DDS and save it to your desktop
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/dds.scr

Disable any script blocker if your Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware has it.
Once downloaded you can disconnect from the Internet and disable your Ant-Virus temporarily if needed.
Then double click dds.scr to run the tool.
When done, the DDS.txt will open.
Click Yes at the next prompt for Optional Scan.

When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:

1. DDS.txt
2. Attach.txt

• Save both reports to your desktop
• Please include the following logs in your next reply: DDS.txt and Attach.txt

Please post a status update.
