Hello,

I'm new to this forum and just want to say a major thanks to all those that give their time to help others. Now I am in need of some help. About two weeks ago I was infected with the system security virus. As I tried to clean it-using mbam and antivira, each reboot made the computer worse to the point that I lost my tool bar and shortcuts. I was able to run some programs from the taskmanager and was finally able to run HJT and mbam. It helped some, but I never got back my shortcuts or tool bar. I reinstalled the OS, but it was Win XP home SP1. Now when I start the computer, my tool bar and shortcuts and all my files are there, but it does not connect to the internet in normal mode. Worse, I cannot run HJT or mbam as it says I do not have permission to do so. I cannot update the SP even in safe mode with networking.

When I start mbam in normal mode, it runs for 2 secs and then stops.

Thanks for any help or advice you can give.

Visit the webpage below for instructions for downloading and running ComboFix:

But proir to running Please make sure you disable ALL of your Antivirus/Antispyware/Firewall before running ComboFix..This is because Security Software may see some components ComboFix uses (prep.com for example) as suspicious and blocks the tool, or even deletes it.
