Hi PA.Dutchman
UAC should not prevent MBAM from updating. MBAM should have been installed and had the update schedule set using an administrator account. You can run on a limited user account after it is setup.
What is more likely is that your anti-virus or firewall is blocking the update. Please
check here and if necessary, make exclusions in your firewall and/or anti-virus. See solution #3 and exclude the following files:
- C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
- C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe
- C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe
- C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\mbam.sys
- C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\mbamswissarmy.sys
Also check to make sure Internet Explorer is set to work online even if you use another browser. MBAM uses the Internet Explorer settings to download the updates. See solution #8 on the linked page above.
Make sure Internet Explorer is set to detect settings automatically and you are not using a proxy.
See hereThank you very much. I have been a subscriber to Smart Computing for a dozen years. I always go there for help and good advice.
Several of the people on the Forum are long timeres and have great knowledge of what works and what doesn't.
Malawarebytes and Mail Washer are two programs we purchased as the result of asking some of these knowledgeable friends on Smart Computing.
WE ARE THRILLED WITH BOTH AND WITH Smart Computing. I told Smart Computing they should work out a deal with Dell and HP to include a years' subscription rather than the free software packages everyone deletes in the end anyway.
Again thank you so very much.
