I recently installed MBAM and did initial update. Shows database version 1686. This is ver. 1.33.
Whenever I check for updates it acts like it's downloading and then says it has
updated from 1686 to 1686.
Is this normal?
Thanks!

The latest is 1697. When the database is up to date, it usually says "You have the latest database version." You might be having some issues.

Try rebooting, then check for updates again to see if that fixes it.

This issue reared it's head last week and was supposedly resolved, but I've got one user in support also now experiencing this.
Lets hope it gets resolved just as quickly.

Re-boot didn't help.
I'll try a re-install tomorrow. This is a vista 64 machine, not sure if that would matter.
Thanks!

It could just be the time difference between updates on different servers. Once the update is pushed out then all 900 Servers have to get a copy of it and the caching of browsers and sites plays into it somewhat. I would just wait till tomorrow and try the update again.

After re-installing MBAM updated fine and would also show current version is up to date when no update needed.
After a re-boot yesterday I'm now back to successful update from 1701 to 1701.

Do you use a proxy of some sort?
DanL

No proxy.
Didi a re-install again this morning and all is well for now.
After update if I tried to update again I would get the "you have the latest database version" message.
A few minutes ago I ran the update and got "successfully updated from 1708 to 1709".
Good for now!

Re-boot this morning brought back the problem.

What security software are you using?
DanL

Eset Smart Security. SAS, and MBAM. MBAM is not running full time or real time protection.

Are there exclusions set in your firewall policy to always trust MBAM?
DanL

The firewall is on auto. It lets MBAM update freely. The problem only occurs after re-boot.
Then MBAM starts saying it is updating successfuly to the same version over and over.

I just stopped all traffic and tried to update. That causes MBAM to display "update failed. Make sure you have a connection and MBAM has access to internet".
When I allow traffic again and click update, MBAM goes back to "the database was successfully updated from version 1711 to 1711".
Not the firewall.
But I do appreciate the help.

Not the firewall.
Can you turn the firewall off, try the update, then reboot and see if it persists?

Well, I finally solved this problem. MBAM can only be updated while in the admin account.
I spend most of my time online in a user account. I can update other programs in the user account,
some require typing in the admin password.
With MBAM I have to switch users and log into admin to update.
Is there any way around this?

Right-click, "Run as".
Looks like that fixed the final issue. Thanks for the help!
