Oddly enough after the patch a day or so ago to upgrade Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware version i been having problems in updating it keeps giving me. Update failed. Please make sure your are connected to the internet and your firewall is set to allow Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. Other AVs i have is Norton internet sercurity. so i dont know if its the program or my norton.

So is anyone else having this problem or have any tips to fix it?
Dane
Oh right the last time i updated was March 30 so yes i dont know what happened since then till now...and before march 30 i never had this update problem either.

Same problem here. I have Avira AV. Purchased paid version of the Anti-Malware, it did update ok before the first scan but now, even after a clean reboot, I get the same error

"Update failed. Make sure you are connected to the Internet and your firewall is set to allow Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to access the internet."

I only have Avira AV, no windows firewall, Win XP SP3.

Please sort this. I start to feel ripped.

Please try downloading the database manually, then re-trying the update;

http://www.gt500.org/malwarebytes/database.jsp

If that fails, please try monitoring the connection with a traffic monitor such as Fiddler/Wireshark/Ethereal etc
MysteryFCM
If you use Fiddler by the way (fiddlertool.com), the results should look the same as below.

I'm also having this same issue. I monitored the connections happening, not with any of those tools, but with Outpost Firewall HTTP Log Event Viewer, and the only connection happening is mbam-cdn.malwarebytes.org/news/news.txt

No more connections happen related to Malwarebytes.

By the way, in this page you gave http://www.gt500.org/malwarebytes/database.jsp, the database version is 1893. Mine is 1928. Could it be due to that, that the updates are failing?
MysteryFCM
It's certainly possible. Could you try manually installing the update from the link I gave, and try a manual update?

Could Malwarebytes being victim of DoS? Or something like that?
DarkButterfly
I just tried to reinstall MBAM, to see if would solve anything. No deal. It can't update.

The manual update link can be up to a week behind or more

Apologies for that, I'll get in touch with the dev's and get that mirror updated. In the meantime;

Shut down MBAM, then download the attached.

Once downloaded, extract the contents to;

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

Then re-load MBAM.

hello,
your solution is good but we are many people in France to have the same problem;
MBAM have to find a durable solution to make the programm automaticaly connect himself to your site malwarebytes.org.

Hello, I am a new member from Spain, and I'm having the same problem. This afternoon I tried to update and got no response from the server malwarebytes. However, last night was upgraded without problem. Hope of Malwarebytes servers that are not experiencing a DDoS.
Greetings

Are you guys still having problems?

Today, I was going to update, and, this time, not even a error message appears. It just hangs. I don't see any connections being done to Malwarebytes servers, at all.

Anyone able to say if the same happens?
