Full Version: PLEASE!!!! I REALLY NEED HELP!

Please,

I REALLY need someone's help! I believe that a virus has hijacked my computer. Here's the symptoms: Internet Explorer won't launch, Malware Bytes will not install, Hijack This will not install, ComboFix won't install. When I go to put the tablet into standby, often I get an error to the effect of "the tablet cannot enter standby because an Office document or process is accessing a file from the network." But I am not on a network, it is in standalone mode right now.

Most of the existing loaded programs work (except for Explorer, of course)....the system runs quickly, everything appears normal, except that I cannot launch or install anything that could fix this. When I launch Task Manager, I notice that iexplorer.exe is running under processes, and combofix.exe and HTInstall.exe is running under processes, but they just won't launch or install.

This is a Tablet PC operating on a Windows XP platform. I have read about a dozen posts on here looking for a solution, but haven't been able to find one that works. This is a wireless tablet, with a couple USB drives, so I was able to "import" Combo Fix and Hijack This via an SD card to the tablet. It does not have an internal CD drive, and I don't presently own a portable CD drive.

I'm beginning to think that I'm going to have to unload Windows and/or Office. I have searched for all files or folders modified or created in the time frame that I thought the tablet was infected. I have deleted everything in that time frame that I was sure was safe to delete. I may have deleted one or two wrong files, though. I'm not sure if it is as a result of the virus, or something I deleted, but now the on-screen keyboard has all the letter missing. The keyboard pops up, but there is no alphabet there.

If anyone can help me, I'd really, really, really, really, appreciate it! Please....no one has replied in 24 hours and I'm beginning to panic!

Thanks,
M
