Hi erniet! Welcome to the forum! It would protect your pc to use a mailware program like malwarebytes! The free version will let you do a manual scan. If you buy/pay for the program (a 1 time life payment) you get the protection module which works in real time! and the AV program example: Mac Afee or any of the AV programs is a must today. The AV program may not pick up on a mailware that may infect your system. Use of two AV programs may disturb your system, like Mac Afee and NortonAV. as you titled your post. but one AV program and one Maleware program should be enough... Its ok to use a paid AV program with a free Malware program... good to meet you.....yardbird

Even tho is NEVER a good idea to have two antivirus at any one time. It is possible to have two without causing problems for your computer. Just disable the protection module premanently ( On access scanners ) or any other way that i dont know about..... If i recall there is a program that is able to do this. I have known people who have done this and their computer run fine with two antivirus install.

Yes, that works with some, but often even if you disable the protection modules of one or the other, the kernel level drivers still load at boot, and with certain ones, this can still cause issues. MBAM in particular though, is not an anti-virus and isn't designed to replace one, it's designed to work with protection enabled alongside your normal anti-virus.
