I am presently working with Tom Mercado in trying to determine the error codes 1073 and 2 with my machine which is win xp sp3. I am running comodo internet security with superantispyware. I have the paid version of Malwarebytes and other versions have not been a problem for me with the realtime protection module until version 1.37. I believe it is definitely in the Mbamservice that is the root of the problem but cannot isolate any drivers to determine if there are conflicts. My system runs smooth with lots of speed etc but I believe the conflict resides with mbamservice and other services or drivers. I have done everything that has been suggested on the forums and the instructions to reinstall etc but no joy. What services need to be running for Malwarebytes Mbamservice to properly run to provide real time protection? What drivers are different from version 1.36 and 1.37 that could be causing this. Are there any window system drivers that could be in conflict with security features when windows updates from Microsoft? These are a few questions that I don't have the answer and hope the developers could dig a little deeper into the code. This is a wide spread problem and more and more people are having this isssue. It is the kind of issue that may now show up after installing but could show up later. These are some suggestions from a point of view after all has been tried.

There are many issues that could cause it. Did you fully disable your Anti-Virus when you installed MBAM. The fine print of most installers ask/tell you to disable your Anti-Virus while installing but most users ignore this and continue on.

Not sure what all you tried but I would try this just to ensure that you've tried all you can to get it to work.

You may have corrupted files on your disk. Please try running the following.
First close ALL Applications as this routine will automatically restart your computer.
Click on START - RUN and copy / paste the following entry into the box and click OK
CODE
CMD /C ECHO Y|CHKDSK C: /F | SHUTDOWN /R /T 30

1. Stop SUPERAnti-Spyware from loading on startup.
2. Save your current COMODO firewall / AV settings as an export so that you can restore them later on.
3. Uninstall the COMODO suite and reboot.

  1. Uninstall Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware using Add/Remove programs in the control panel.
  2. Restart your computer (very important).
  3. Download and run this utility.
  4. It will ask to restart your computer (please allow it to).
  5. After the computer restarts, install the latest version from here
Note: If you're using a PAID version of Malwareybtes, you will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via e-mail.

Enable the Protection Module, UPDATE the definitions and run a Quick Scan and see if you're still having any slow down, freezing, or update issues.
If all is well then start SUPERAnti-Spyware and allow to load with Windows again.
RESTART the computer again and verify again if MBAM can now do a Quick Scan without an issue.
If all is well then re-install the COMODO suite and reboot and see if MBAM is still having an issue.

If it does only when you put COMODO back in then see if you can add the following to an exclusion list in the program.

Add the following folders, sub-folders if you can, at a minimum add the files to the exclusion to be safe.
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref
  • C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\mbam.sys
  • C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\mbamswissarmy.sys
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
