Since yesterday whenever I boot my PC (and Malwarbytes starts) it immediately starts lisitng files that it
thinks are infected (they are all false positives). I try to click ignore but they go on and on and when
I click the stop scanning button my PC freezes completely. A cold reboot is the only fix.
I've uninstalled it for now but pls let us know what we can do to sort out the problem. I see others
are experiencing similar issues.
WinXP SP3, Avast a/v and Comodo firewall.
thanks

There was a False Positive in the updates for a few hours the other day. If you happen to have had that version and did not check and get an update before that scan it could have caused that.
That was only for a few hours and was corrected so you should not have that issue now if you install and update the definitions.
Basic procedures to correct freezing issues often due to other Security Software
If these procedures do not correct the problem please create a new post seeking further assistance
- Uninstall Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware using Add/Remove programs in the control panel.
- Restart your computer (very important).
- Download and run this utility.
- It will ask to restart your computer (please allow it to).
- After the computer restarts, install the latest version from here
Note: If you're using a PAID version of Malwareybtes, you will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via e-mail.
BEFORE registering and starting the Protection Module, locate the Exclusion List for your Anti-Virus. Probably under an advanced menu in the program.
Add the following files to the exclusion to be safe.
You may have to also add mbam.exe to your Firewall rules to allow updates.
- C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\mbam.sys
- C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\mbamswissarmy.sys
- C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
- C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe
- C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe

Thanks, I'll try that later tonight.
Just to be clear.. there were dozens of files being flagged in various folders on my drive.. it wasn't just one or two false positives.. it
was dozens... including the drivers and exe's for my printers and other files that could not possibly be infected.
Also, could you pls explain how my a/v scanning my malwarebytes folders would cause malwarebytes itself to find false positives
all over my hard drive?
thanks

It was probably the database error in 2201 -- please update your database.
