Help,

I downloaded a file in Vista 32bit and scanned it with NOD32 and still got the Google Redirect Trojan. I thought it was associated with the Google Toolbar so now I can at least get websites but the ads are all redirects. I'm glad I found this site.

I can install and update MBAM but on run it closes and when I try to run again I get:

Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.

I try HJT and get the same.

I try RootRepeal and it just freezes at "Initializing, please wait...."

Is it hopeless? Is a format imminent?

HELP!

Have you tried booting your system in to safe mode ? you can also try selective start up in msconfig. usually in one of these to modes enough of the virus or malware is disabled that you can run mbam to get rid of some of the infections.

Another great tool you can try is stinger http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/ just download it and run it in the heuristics set it to very high before you do a scan you will get false positives but it again might free up your system just enough so that you can use mbam or nod32 to get rid of your nasties.

ThomFrost thanks for the reminder on Stinger, I have that tool and have used it in the past, but somehow I had forgotten about it, but now I have downloaded the new version.
