I'm getting the fake Windows Security Center popup telling me to download something or "Click Here to Enable Protection". I have not clicked on it, only closed the popup a few times before I realized what was going on. I immediately disconnected internet, too.
I ran Norton full system scan and it found & neutralized a trojan, but the popups are still there. Everytime I reconnect to try to download MBAM or similar, it starts a separate "downloading file" window and I disconnect immediately.
After some reading, I downloaded your MBAM manual installer/updater to another computer and transferred it. It's installed, and I followed the instructions, but the program won't launch after install, or even if I click on it in the start menu.
What's my next step? Is it OK to shut down the computer or leave it running disconnected? I need to get some sleep '8-\
I have a Dell Vostro 1500 with Windows XP Pro
