I've known about Malwarebytes since it's early stages. I helped with beta testing on this program and others for Marcin.

I was using Adaware and then switched to SuperAntiSpyware and they seemed to have stopped working as good as they used to. I have not updated to tried using those since they updated their software to a new version, but I am not interested any more in them since I found MBAM and it does a superior job!

I use Malwarebytes, Spybot S&D & CCleaner together to thoroughly clean up computers that have already been infected. This method seems to work quite well so far. I am considering downloading the Full version to use as an preventative measure...

I can't remember where I heard about it but I knew a good thing when I saw it and joined the beta program back in December/05

I became aware of it while doing malware removal at several forums where other security analysts had used it very successfully on a multitude of nasty infections.

Having already known of Marcin and many of his other freeware tools, QooFix, About:Buster and others, it was a simple decision to make that the app would be valuable.

Then I had the good fortune of being in the right place at the right time and now I'm proud to say I'm employed by Malwarebytes. Hope to live out the rest of my days helping users with the software and malware removal.

The first contact with Malwarebytes I think: "Is another product, another crap!!"...But I was completely Wrong, a big wrong, this product is very, excelent, awsome...continue to improve more, more and more to make the best product in the market in future.

A Remote Repairer was needed, as I could not get quick help locally, when I got Antivirus 2009 - He used Malwarebytes as part of his repair tool kit -
I contacted a (Cross Loop) remote repair guy from the USA and he left it on my computer for me to use - I have used it ever since -
But I still rely on SAS and Avira as well -

When I bought my Dell Inspiron in september 2007, I've been visiting Dell Support forums on a daily base and it was Bugbatter who highly recommended MBAM (both at the malware removal forums and the virus/spyware discussions) so I decided to give it a try and I have been protected by MBAM since March 2008. I really think it is a "must have" on every PC and most family members and friends have it installed on theirs now.

Luckily I've never needed it for malware removal so far (touch wood).

#1 I had already known about, and frequently used, the other tools created by Malwarebytes' like RogueRemover, FileASSASSIN, StartupLite, About:Buster etc and when MBAM rolled out I gave it a shot and liked what I saw. Over time I've seen it grow into one of the single most effective malware detection and removal tools in the industry and it just keeps getting better .

Argh! Marcin I will have skewed your results! I accidentally pressed "no" instead of "yes" for the last question. Yes I DO think there is a difference between an anti-virus and an anti-malware product (please correct me if I'm wrong about that though). Isn't "malware" a sort of umbrella term for basically anything unwanted and malicious? (Which would include viruses, of course).

As for the other two questions:

1. I had a mobile computer repair man visit when my laptop was doing some strange things. He thought the problem could be malware and ran his CD of MBAM. (It came back all clear, thankfully. The problem was an application that had got itself into a tangle and needed uninstalling and re-installing.) Before he left he installed MBAM on my system.

2. Actually I wasn't looking for a new solution at that time, the repair man installed MBAM without discussion. I'm VERY pleased he did though because I'm very impressed with it indeed; and I've learned an awful lot about security, malware and computers in general since joining this forum. I've recommended MBAM to colleagues, friends, and family since learning of it.

As it happens - now I'm starting to learn more - I'm not happy with my current other security programmes, but I didn't know much about this stuff when I got my laptop,and I just installed what my father recommended to me. When I get a new computer I plan to ditch AVG-free for either Avira or Avast! 5; and I plan to switch Ad-aware AE for Super AntiSpyware, and possibly another one like Spybot. I also fully intend to purchase MBAM then too.

I learned about Malwarebytes before Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware was even publicly hinted at. One day, 2 and a half or three years ago (I don't even remember anymore) I was checking Merijn's blog to see if there was updated news on any of his utilities (such as HijackThis, which I would believe he had just sold to TrendMicro at the time), and there was a new blog entry about Rogue Remover. Well, I tried it, and I liked it. It worked very well for removing rogues of the time.

At some point down the line, when going to get an updated version of Rogue Remover, I noticed that there was a signup for a closed beta of a new anti-malware tool called Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. I thought to myself "Cool, a beta" and I fired Marcin off an e-mail requesting access. Being the first 64-bit Windows user to contact him about the beta, Marcin was interested in how it worked on 64-bit Windows. He sent me a copy, and I had a lot of fun beta testing it. Even though it wasn't even in public beta at the time, Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware wound it's way into my arsenal of tools. At first I didn't completely trust it, but it wasn't long before it proved itself to me beyond a shadow of a doubt. That was a little under 2 years ago, and I have been hanging around here ever since.

In December of 2008, when Marcin was ready to set up a tech support department to take the burden of supporting Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware off of himself, I was lucky enough to be there talking to him about the need to hire a tech support staff, and I got the job along with Tom. Since then I have been quite happy to work for this company, and have never regretted pestering Marcin for weeks telling him to hire me.

I love our software, I love our company, and I love the people I work with.

Like some others, I watched the early stages of development, when everything started. At the beginning I was surprised, then, when I saw results, I got addicted.

Other software (antispyware/malware) have obsolete conception and give up when there are big infections, or cannot cover the whole process so the malware regenerates after rebooting. Malwarebytes cleans everything, for rogues, and "big" infections. That's just the needed efficiency, against current most sophisticated malware.

In addition, a product that doesn't frighten users about cookies or MRU, and takes care of what is really important and harms directly the OS shows what has priority.

MalwareBytes' heuristic, and the responsiveness of the team are just outstanding, and the way this forum works deserves compliments. Thanks to the admin/moderator team.

Just bought 10 licenses for Christmas gifts .

I use whatever works, Malwarebytes works. I also use combofix for rootkits, between the two they get just about everything, although combofix does have a somewhat alarming tendency to false alarm

In the old days Spybot & Adaware were good, now Spybot's immunise & Spywareblaster are simply for an added level of protection for those who tend to be infected easily even if it does slow down their browsing experience.

The separation of Virus detection and spyware detection by some major products in the enterprise is totally wrong & I for one cannot understand why the company where I work sticks with McAfee for example.

Initially I had windows defender apart from A/V soft.

Then I found by experience that windows defender was not that sensitive in preventing attacks. SSD also was not effective.

Then while browsing for an effective anti-malware, I found about mbam in Cnet.com.

What I like is the lifetime subscription feature.

I find SAS is also doing a good job.

It was recommended to me by someone other than a friend - I found MBAM at download.com

It's been sometime now but I think I first heard of MBAM in CastleCops forum.

And I don't really think my current IS isn't up to its task, however I am curious and I have a need to know tools I may need when cleaning someone's computer.

That being said, I also use a number of other tools

I started at the very beginning with Rogue Remover and alpha tested MBAM when it first came out.
Marcin was the one I had contact with and we talked about what kind of scanner people would like to have.
MBAM is still cooking and is a must have app for me and I recommend it to everyone I know.
MBAM removes bad infections that even Anti-Virus programs cannot remove.

When I bought my laptop it was suggested to me to get MBAM and I didnt, then my computer got infected and I had the laptop repaired and the computer specialist added it and since then I havent stopped using it and it has successfully removed trojan horses and so on, thanks so much to the staff!!!

Other, I like to keep myself up to date with the latest ways to combat malware and viruses.

I had been using HijackThis, ComboFix, Ad-Aware and a number of other tools to remove the coolwebsearch infections for some time when I encountered an infection I hadn't seen before. Taking what info I could glean from from HijackThis, as nothing seemed to remove the infection, I did a web search which pointed me to website that not only recommended Malwarebyte's but actually insisted it worked. I was skeptical because all the tools I had ever used, though they worked, didn't work to my satisfaction sometimes. I always ended up doing a manual scan through the registry and the Windows file system to find left behind keys, files and garbage.

But since I was at the point of either try Malwarebyte's or reformat the drive and start fresh I decided I had nothing to lose. I was blown away at how well it worked and since then have been telling everybody I can about it. I insist my clients install it on their computers, especially after I give them a 30 minute speech on what the consequences could be if they don't. I tell every one I know who uses p2p or other file sharing services to get the paid version of Malwarebyte's. It may sound like I'm being harsh or heavy handed toward my clients but more than one has later called me and thanked me for having them install this great product.

I had been using the Free version for a couple years. I had a couple of contests on my forum, and I had a few Malwarebytes programs as gifts. Gave them all away, and had nothing but excellent feed back on the program, so I decided I should have the Pro Version also, works just like I was told it did. I'm quite satisfied with Malwarebytes..I recommend it often to members to run a scan with this program first.

I can remember the exact date (07/11/09) I first downloaded Malwarebytes because I almost had to reinstall XP when the Vundo virus System Security took over my computer and began to dismantle it. Other friends of mine did lose everything on their systems and/or spent hundreds of dollars getting them fixed. My friends had visited the same infected site, a professional networking site and not a game site or a porn site, etc., which used to be the *usual suspects*.

Even though I was clueless, I researched like crazy to try and get rid of this plague on my system. MBAM came up repeatedly in my research on this virus, and in fact was touted as the only program that could remove all vestiges of the virus. I had always done research before buying antivirus and antispyware products and bought what was rated among the "best." (The "best" didn't stop the virus. The "best" was rendered impotent by the virus.)

I just bought the full version of Malwarebytes a few days ago, in part for improved protection, in part for thanks and in hopes that, by supporting the product financially, the developers can continue to research and keep abreast of the threats in the wild.

I've been using Threatfire since its Cyberhawk days along side whatever AV solution I was running over the years. Last year I grew tired of dealing with its issues, especially with their Smart Update technology which started to get stupid.

I looked around for additional layer(s) to apply to G Data IS2010 which in my very humble opinion is the best suite ever. I found Zemana Antilogger in September and it passes muster and plays well with it.

Further research lead me to MBAM which I purchased a few days ago. So far so good except I don't think I like the database and product updates occurring within the same event. Unattended database updates, good. User evokes product update, good. Time will tell.

I was looking for an extra antimalware to scan my PC, after reading a few posts by other users at other forums I found Malwarebytes. First scan it found malware, its been on my PC since I found it.

Like some others, i used it in its early stages. I was impressed with how well it detected and removed malware. I enjoy watching it grow and become one of the best Anti-Malware products available. Finally, i think it has the most talented staff of developers, researchers, and can't forget the new blogger either. LOL......




With the addition of IP blocking, malwarebytes has one big advantage compared to other Anti-Malware products. Its a must for keeping your system malware free.

First, I am a tech. Some of the questions seem targeted to users? Most techs would say, spy/mal-ware comes through a browser's open doors using technologies that make it near impossible to prevent infection from happening.

I've been with you since the start. I have used many such programs and individual tools in the past. malwarebytes has the longest running successful reputation so far. AdAware, SpybotSD, Giant, eWidow were all good at their time. I still use SD for a couple of things, but each fell behind.

As mentioned previously by others, If you sell out, cash in, etc. They will ruin your work and rep much like ewidow/avg. (they seem more worthless toward spyware each day.

I would have had much more trouble doing my job if it werent for MB. I should send you some more money :)

Well as long as you've obtained a Technician License for the product which gives you the legal right to use it in your business for cleaning customer computers then you should be all set.

My dad told me about Malwarebytes sometime late 09. Until not long ago, I didn't see anything special about it until I really had the chance to try it and I must say, I am blown away. My favorite of all time. There is no way on this earth or in this life time I can express how much appreciation I have for this, I don't even know what to call it, it saved my computer while giving me my baby back. Its more than just a product to me now, its a MUST HAVE! Like air! I refuse to go without it after my experience this morning (I posted about it: "Antivirus live").

There is no way for me to express my full gratitude but I will scratch the surface by not telling just anyone about this , but by telling EVERYONE about this.
