Click to view attachmentI need some help / advice please.

I cannot get the IP Protection module to start; it remains unticked in the system tray however many times I attempt to click it on. I've uninstalled and reinstalled MBAM 3 times now - the last time using the mbam-cleanup utility (mbam-clean.exe), having rebooted before and after using it. The protection module is on (and ticked) as is the Start with Windows option.

MBAM installs perfectly normally every time; I can update it and perform scans as per normal and I don't get any error message popups at any time.
Computer seems to be functioning normally; the only thing I've changed a short while ago is installed a wireless ExpressCard (I have that type of slot in this lappy) - and am using it to connect. It's a Belkin N1 (MIMO) wireless card; the F5D8071uk model (v.1112).

MBAM logs are giving me a 1753 error code - I've not seen that error code before in the logs. They're attached. Click to view attachment.

Sorry to be a pain but I have a sinking feeling I may have fiddled a little bit too much in areas I shouldn't have. Or to put it another way I have boldly gone where computer geeks fear to tread! smile.gif

Not sure what to do next.

EDIT: tues 13th Oct, 00:16 Still got this. Several reboots later make no difference. Not reinstalled it (again!) this time. A Hijack This! scan and log has shown absolutely nothing of interest (malware-wise) so I'm none the wiser.Yet!

When IP Protection first came out, I had a similar issue on a wirelessly connected laptop. My experience is that IP Protection will not start correctly (and function) until the computer is connected to the Internet. To see if this is your issue, uncheck MBAM "Start Protection with Windows" and reboot your computer. Once your computer is rebooted and ready to use (Internet connected), start protection. I think IP protection starts a little after the regular protection; so , give IP Protection several seconds to start after the MBAM taskbar Icon comes up. If this works for you, you can recheck start protection with windows and use a program like WinPatrol to delay the startup of mbam protection until after your wireless connection is made. In my case, I delayed mbam protection start (mbamgui.exe) by 60 seconds.

calintexas,
thanks for your response and information; unfortunately despite having followed it and doing a few variations of it too I still cannot get the IP protection to work!!. It's kind of weird in a way - almost the exact opposite of what a good many people here seem to want!

It appears that your network card is not being accessed correctly for some reason. I'll point one of the developers here and see what they have to say. We may move this post to another forum though depending on what the Devs want to do.

Please make sure your Firewall is running and the Base Filtering Engine (BFE) service as well as the IPSec services and that they're applied to this new Network card.

Done, and the "problem" is now solved. It works now, and doesn't even need a reboot.

"..Ahem. This is what happens when an inverterate fiddler fiddles where he shouldn't and isn't needed". Hard habit to break.

Thank you Ron. Very speedy of you and the devs too to respond like that.

Great, glad you got it working again. Now just be careful when messing with stuff like that, make sure you have a backup of your settings to go back to.

Cheers.
