So downloaded and installed all the new updates yesterday. Except, KB970892 the SQL server one failed to install. Now when I check It says there are no updates that I need to install. Should I manually install the one that failed? Why would it say that I have everything when this one obviously failed? Thanks biggrin.gif

I'd recommend trying to install it manually (from here if you needed the link smile.gif ) as it can't do any harm, and if it's not needed it will tell you that when you try to install it. The version you'll want for 32 bit Windows will be the x86 package.

it failed again. Below is the log it produced. Should I just leave it be? It says error message was that SQL server was non responsive. Maybe it will self correct?

I didn't have that issue? and we have the same OS. MS would like to hear about this: http://support.microsoft.com/ but I didn't get around to looking up what the patch was for yet !!!!

after hours of messing with this, I finally found out from microsoft, i never should have received this update in the first place rolleyes.gif

Is that update for XP only?
I have vista and got 11 updates but not that one.
exile360
That update is for SQL Server, if you aren't running it on your system then it doesn't apply to you wink.gif . As for the error, you're not alone, many others have had it as well and I found out why: check out this MSDN thread for the details and the fix (for those actually requiring the update wink.gif ).

just like ms to dump everything/anything down on us !!!!

it was weird, the SQL update came up a few times and failed to install, now it just doesn't show up. it says I have "no high priority updates to install" . I confirmed with microsoft, that basically this was a glitch.
