I've been using 1.10 to do installs and then allow it to update to 1.11 via the update button.
Just downloaded 1.11 and did a clean install and noticed that the option to create a DESKTOP ICON was not checked by default.
Though I'm not the person that would put the icon on my desktop and I would probably uncheck it, I would like to cast my vote to have it checked by default.
I think that would be a better option for many users. I've seen and supported thousands of users over time and many are lost if the icon isn't sitting there in plain site.

It may have remembered your settings from the last time that you installed MBAM....

Possible - I won't rule it out, but I don't recall installing it before on this system I'm on now.

I see it happening all the time, especially in Vista, with apps that I have previously installed, even when I remove them and then install a fresh install / new version. If I set it to not create a desktop icon (or any one of a number of other settings that can be set during installation) it remembers those settings.

Thanks John,
1. Not on Vista
2. Don't think this system has ever had MB installed (uninstalling and reinstalling is not the same as never having installed)
Appreciate the feedback.

OKay, follow-up. Yes I did have MB installed on this system before and it was remembering my previous selections.
So it would seem that my choices were the cause of it not being selected. Sorry for the misguided post.

No worries - at least now you know. And so will lots of other people who otherwise would have made the same assumption as you did.

Yes, this was requested back in the day. On reinstall, the icon would be created and many users hated that.

Including me - I was one of those clamoring for this feature

(and that is probably how I knew / remembered to think about it being the installer....)
