Very sorry, it looks like it was missed a while back and then just simply got lost in the posts here on the board.

I will assist you in cleaning up your computer. To start out though please run the following again so that I know where the system is currently at.

Update and Scan with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • Start MalwareBytes AntiMalware (Vista users must Right click and choose RunAs Admin)
  • Please DO NOT run MBAM in Safe Mode unless requested to, you MUST run it in normal Windows mode.
    • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    • Select the Update tab
    • Click Update
  • When the update is complete, select the Scanner tab
  • Select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. please copy and paste the log into your next reply
    • If you accidently close it, the log file is saved here and will be named like this:
    • C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\mbam-log-date (time).txt

Then RESTART the computer and AFTER the reboot run HJT Do a system scan and save a logfile
The post back NEW MBAM and HJT logs in that order please.

Because the program is often updated several time a day. You still have some stuff there that does not belong but I don't have time right now to fully analyze and provide you with feedback. I'll try to get back to you some time tomorrow with what else to do.
Highlyunlikely
thank you, i dont mind the wait when i know i will be responded to eventually.

kind regards.
Highlyunlikely
just thought i'd add that my dvd writer has now stoped working. please help
AdvancedSetup
We can probably fix this when the system is clean. This can happen when removing Malware.

Close ALL open browsers and chat programs
Then start HJT and run Do a system scan only and place a check mark on the following items.
  • O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [My Web Search Bar] rundll32 C:\PROGRA~1\MYWEBS~1\bar\3.bin\MWSBAR.DLL,S
  • O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-19\..\Run: [zilohayehi] Rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\system32\gevikeyi.dll",s (User 'LOCAL SERVICE')
  • O8 - Extra context menu item: &Search - ?p=ZK
  • O8 - Extra context menu item: Download Using &BitSpirit - C:\Program Files\BitSpirit\bsurl.htm
  • O20 - AppInit_DLLs: c:\windows\system32\vurukimi.dll c:\windows\system32\dorikohi.dll ,
Then click on Fix checked and then quit HJT

Update and Scan with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • Start MalwareBytes AntiMalware (Vista users must Right click and choose RunAs Admin)
  • Please DO NOT run MBAM in Safe Mode unless requested to, you MUST run it in normal Windows mode.
    • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    • Select the Update tab
    • Click Update
  • When the update is complete, select the Scanner tab
  • Select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. please copy and paste the log into your next reply
    • If you accidently close it, the log file is saved here and will be named like this:
    • C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\mbam-log-date (time).txt

Then RESTART the computer and AFTER the restart run this
Please download the following scanning tool. GMER
  • Open the zip file and copy the file gmer.exe to your Desktop.
  • Double click on gmer.exe and run it.
  • It may take a minute to load and become available.
  • Do not make any changes. As soon as it's done and the COPY button is available click on the COPY button.
  • DO NOT Click on the SCAN button.
  • This will place the scan in your clipboard. Paste that into notepad or into your next reply post please.
  • Click OK and quit the GMER program.

Then run a new HJT Scan and Save log file.
Highlyunlikely

The logs look clean.

How is the computer running now?
Are there any signs of an infection still?
Highlyunlikely
well i havent had any more pop ups which is great, but avg still wont update and my CD burner still wont work. my CD drive wont recognise that theres a blank disc in the drive, and it was working fine before hand. both of these faults occured when the pop ups started.

thanks for you help so far, i hope you can help me finish this off.
AdvancedSetup
Can you download a new copy of AVG and then uninstall your current version, reboot then re-install the newly downloaded copy of AVG and try again to update it now.
Highlyunlikely
im now downloading it, but its taking ages, the internet seems to have slowed down an awful lot, would that be to do with what we just removed? and did you have any ideas about the CD writer drive?
AdvancedSetup
The AVG site could be busy or some site between you and them. Your ISP could be having issues.

I have to run off to work now but will try to get you some information on the DVD fix later tonight.
Highlyunlikely
thank you, i really do appreciate it, i know ive been a pain but it looks like its nearly over now. thanks again
AdvancedSetup
You're not a pain. tongue.gif
No one is born knowing computers. It takes time, practice, and reading to get better with them.

First download and run Erunt 1.1j to backup your Registry.
Do not add it to the Startup Folder at this time when it requests to do so during installation.
Then run it and do a backup of the Registry.

Then try this for fixing the DVD issue.
Start/Run/Regedit
Browse to this registry key:
CODE
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ CurrentControlSet\Control\Class
Key Name:
{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Value Data: {Delete All Value Data from UpperFilters and LowerFilters}
Note: Do not delete the Key or the Multi-String Values. Delete only the data values.
Exit the Registry and Reboot your computer.

This should restore your DVD drive if your drive is still good.
Here is an article from Microsoft with more details if the above does not work. You can no longer access the CD drive or the DVD drive
Highlyunlikely
So AVG is reinstalled and works, and the CD fix has made the dvd-rw drive read CD's and DVDS, but when i come to burn something Nero 8 doesn't recognise that theres a blank disc in the drive, im not sure wether this is a problem with nero, but it was working fine before hand. thanks
AdvancedSetup
We removed the filter drivers for Nero. You need to re-install Nero and it should now work fine.

Please update your AVG to the latest version now that its working and do a FULL SCAN on ALL DRIVES and let me know if it finds anything or not.

Then run MBAM and do an update, its now at version 1.33 and do another Quick Scan
Then reboot the computer and run a new HJT log.

Post back MBAM and HJT logs and let me know again how the system is running.
Highlyunlikely
Ive uninstalled Nero, but i cant find the disc i had the installation on, so i installed a random free dvd burner called Infrarecorder and the same problem arose. I ran AVG and it found 0 infections, but gave 44 warnings all of which are Cookies. As for how the computer runs it seems to be fine, although it does take alot longer to startup then before. so yea, just the DVD writer problem.

here are the MBAM and HTJ files.

Never heard of that software before. Please uninstall that DVD software and try this one ImgBurn which is also Free and has a pretty good reputation.
Highlyunlikely
i think its working, i feel like a bit of an idiot, as i didnt realise the dvds i have are DVD-r not DVD+r, and i found a part of ImgBurn that shows what your drive is compatible with, it will burn a regular cd. but i swear that i used these discs when i had nero, so i think its problem solved unless some kind of file is missing that would make the drive burn dvd-r's

Okay then, back to Malware.

Please update MBAM one more time and do another Quick Scan and post back that log along with a new HJT log and let me know if there are any signs of an infection still or not and if all comes back clean then I'll go ahead and finish up your post with some suggestions.

Please run an online scan with Kaspersky

Establish an internet connection & perform an online scan with Internet Explorer at Kaspersky Online Scanner.

Click Accept, when prompted to download and install the program files and database of malware definitions.
  • Click Run at the Security prompt.
  • The program will then begin downloading and installing and will also update the database.
  • Please be patient as this can take several minutes.
  • Once the update is complete, click on My Computer under the green Scan bar to the left to start the scan.
  • Once the scan is complete, it will display if your system has been infected. It does not provide an option to clean/disinfect. We only require a report from it.
  • Do NOT be alarmed by what you see in the report. Many of the finds have likely been quarantined.
  • Click View scan report at the bottom.
  • Click the Save Report As... button.
  • Click the Save as Text button to save the file to your desktop so that you may post it in your next reply.

This animation will guide you through the process:

**Note**

To optimize scanning time and produce a more sensible report for review:
Close any open programs
Turn off the real time scanner of any existing antivirus program while performing the online scan. You may disconnect from the internet once you begin the scan.

Note for Internet Explorer 7 users: If at any time you have trouble viewing the accept button of the license, click on the Zoom tool located at the bottom right of the IE window and set the zoom to 75 %. Once the license accepted, reset to 100%.
