Hello and welcome, brd5370: :)

Yes, MBAM works just fine alongside Bitdefender.

The steps below for setting mutual exclusions are for BD2011.

Until an MBAM staffer arrives with updated advice, this may be enough to help you to complete the process for the current version of BD.

EDIT: Updated Exclusions Instructions for BitDefender 2012 and MBAM follow (Thanks to Strenalis!):

Setting Exclusions for Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware in Bitdefender 2012 Products:

  1. Open Bitdefender
  2. Click Settings
  3. Click on Antivirus on the left, then click on the Exclusions near the top
  4. Click on the toggle bar for the optionActivate exclusions for files so that it switches from OFF to ON
  5. Click Excluded files and folders below the aforementioned toggle bar to add a new exclusion
  6. Click Add then on the new window click Browse
  7. Click the + next to My Computer or Computer
  8. Click the + next to C:
  9. Click the + next to Program Files Note: In 64 bit Windows versions this will be C:\Program Files (x86)
  10. Click once on Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and click on OK
  11. Repeat steps 6-8 and then click the + next to Windows
  12. Click the + next to System32
  13. Click the + next to drivers
  14. Click once on mbam.sys and click on OK
  15. Do the same for the following file:
  16. Click OK
  17. Click Firewall on the left
  18. Click Advanced near the top
  19. Click Application Rules
  20. Click Add Rule
  21. At the top, click Browse
  22. Using steps 7-9, navigate to the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware folder and select the following files and click Open:
    • mbam.exe

[*]Put a checkmark next to the following network types:

  1. Trusted
  2. Home/Office
  3. Public

[*]Click OK

[*]Repeat steps 20-24 for the following files:

  1. mbamgui.exe
  2. mbamservice.exe

[*]Ensure that all three rules are now listed, then click Close

[*]To close Bitdefender, click the minus button at the upper right hand corner

Setting Exclusions for Bitdefender 2012 Products in Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware:

  1. Open Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and click on the Ignore List tab
  2. Click the Add button on the lower left
  3. In the small browse window that opens, navigate to C:\Program Files and click once on Bitdefender and click OK
  4. Click the Add button on the lower left
  5. In the small browse window that opens, navigate to C:\Program Files\Common Files and click once on Bitdefender and click OK
  6. Close Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
