Uninstalling Akamai Netsession_win.exe

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I've been having these weird issues with my quad core processor performance lately. There seemed to be a program that would cause dramatic spikes on one processor, leading me to believe it was a 32bit malware program.

I installed MalwareBytes but got nowhere. Then, after watching my task manager under cpu filter, I noticed that Netsession_win.exe kept jumping to the top of the list. I googled it and found that a lot of people had problems with it on this forum.

Regardless, I uninstalled the software (malware?) and the result was dramatic:

Netsession_win2.jpg

I went from having a single processor jumping from 10% to 92% every second (5%-12% over 8 processors) on idle to a perfect readout. I was starting to worry that my computer needed a complete reformatting because of this, but now I am more than happy.

If you find this program, uninstall it. I don't know why it was there (some type of down-loader tool), but I am glad it is gone. I really wish MalwareBytes would have alerted me to it's presence.
