Hello,

Thank you for the reply. That's what I did but I got the same error as it updated.

I just found out that Mbam is in version 1.65.0.1400 and that was the problem. Prior to updating I saw a 10mb update that was going on in my Windows 7 laptop so I checked the site (malwarebytes.org). There was no changelog there for 1.65. I only found 1.62 so I assumed that it is still 1.62 and 1.65 is still in Beta. I uninstalled via the clean-up tool and installed again only to find out that the Error is the same.

The auto-update works with my Win 7 laptop but not in XP from where the image was taken. I never saw any announcement that 1.65 was out already. It was only earlier that I saw it in Majorgeeks. So it might have been the definition update for ver1.65 I was downloading so I got the error.

Now question is why didn't MBAM autoupdated and instaed downloaded ver1.65 updates instead...?

Yes it looks like they need to update the website. But if you click on DOWNLOAD FREE VERSION (which will update your PRO version) it will take you to the download page, which in turn will download the latest version which is 1.65.0.1400. That being said, please follow the steps below so we can help you get your Malwarebytes working on your computer.

Can I get an mbam-check log from you?

Please post an mbam-check log:

Create an mbam-check log:

  • Download mbam-check.exe from here and save it to your desktop
  • Double-click on mbam-check.exe to run it, it should then open a log file
  • Please copy and paste the entire contents of the log into your next post, or, if you prefer, you may attach the CheckResults.txt file which should now be located on your desktop to your next post instead

Then,

Can you also upload your 3 most recent Protection module logs?

In Windows XP, these logs are located in: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs

In Windows Vista/7, these logs are located in: C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs

Please also run the following scanner and send back the logs.

Download DDS from one of the locations below and save to your Desktop

dds.scr

dds.com

Temporarily disable any script blocker if your Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware has it.

How To Temporarily Disable Your Anti-virus, Firewall And Anti-malware Programs

Once downloaded you can disconnect from the Internet and disable your Ant-Virus temporarily if needed.

Then double click dds.scr or dds.com to run the tool, on Vista or Win 7 right click and select Run as administrator

Click the Run button if prompted with an Open File - Security Warning dialog box.

A black DOS console should open and run for a moment.

  • When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
  1. DDS.txt
  2. Attach.txt

  • Save both reports to your desktop
  • Please include the following logs in your next reply: DDS.txt and Attach.txt
You can ignore the note about zipping the Attach.txt file just attach it to your reply here.

Thank you
